"Emprendimiento práctico y natural"// Practical and natural entrepreneurship"

Hace un par de días mi tía sembró un árbol de limón pequeño que tenía en un matero dentro de su casa. Anteriormente allí en ese mismo lugar había uno que había sembrado mi abuela pero que debido a las termitas se secó. Recuerdo que mi abuela siempre decía que para ella era mejor tener sus propios limones que comprarlos, y hasta cierto tiempo eso fue lo que hizo, y no solo eso, sino que también le permitía compartir con los vecinos y el resto de la familia. Algo similar también lo hacía con la mata de aguacate, árbol que aún sigue en pie y dando fruto.

Pero, ¿Qué tiene que ver esto con el emprendimiento? ¿Acaso se puede emprender con un árbol de aguacate y uno de limón? Hace poco estuve visitando las tierras de Coro, y entre muchas personas conocí a una señora que prácticamente ha pasado toda su vida allí. ¿Cuál ha sido su fuente de provisión? Ella misma confesó que su esposo logró sembrar 100 matas de naranjas y 50 de mandarinas, haciendo esto una fuente de ingreso muy importante para la familia. A veces las cosechas se vendían, mientras otras veces hacían intercambio con los vecinos quienes cultivaban otras cosas o criaban animales. Así, a sus 92 años esta señora puede confirmar el éxito de emprender desde algo muy práctico y natural.

A couple of days ago my aunt planted a small lemon tree that she had in a pot inside her house. Previously there in the same place there was one that my grandmother had planted but due to termites it dried up. I remember that my grandmother always said that for her it was better to have her own lemons than to buy them, and up to a certain time that is what she did, and not only that, but it also allowed her to share with the neighbors and the rest of the family. Something similar was also done with the avocado bush, a tree that is still standing and bearing fruit.

But what does this have to do with entrepreneurship? Can you start a business with an avocado tree and a lemon tree? Recently I was visiting the lands of Coro, and among many people I met a lady who has practically spent her whole life there. What has been her source of supply? She herself confessed that her husband managed to plant 100 bushes of oranges and 50 of mandarins, making this a very important source of income for the family. Sometimes the crops were sold, while other times they traded with neighbors who grew other crops or raised animals. Thus, at 92 years old, this lady can confirm the success of starting from something very practical and natural.

Quizás para algunos este tipo de emprendimiento sea un tanto retrógrado y poco atractivo para los tiempos en los que vivimos, una era en la que el estilo de vida y la tecnología abren un extenso campo para iniciar algún negocio. Pero no cabe duda de lo exitoso y eficaz que esto puede ser, algo en donde la mayor inversión está en el tiempo y el trabajo que tú mismo puedes dar y que está a tu alcance. En este aspecto, siempre he pensado que el mejor negocio no es aquel que se mide por una gran cantidad de dinero entrante, sino de la forma en que con poco tiempo y esfuerzo tienes la capacidad para proveer y disfrutar de la ganancia que puedas generar.

Muchas personas se rehúsan a la idea de emprender por el hecho de no tener una alta cantidad de dinero para invertir, pero ¿Es esto un verdadero obstáculo? ¿Acaso hay una cantidad determinada para comenzar un negocio? A veces los primeros pasos deben ser pequeños y muy despacio, para de a poco ir creciendo al ritmo de tu trabajo. "Invertir en abundancia" no es garantía para un negocio exitoso, y en muchos casos depende más del tiempo y la dedicación que del mismo dinero. Incluso se puede generar sin invertir dinero alguno, y aunque parezca increíble es totalmente cierto, teniendo como ejemplo lo que hacemos y logramos a través de esta plataforma.

Y es que con muchas personas me ha pasado que cuando trato de hablarles acerca de Hive, algunos incluso dudan de que sea algo real por el hecho de no tener que invertir en sentido monetario para poder generar y aportar desde esos mismos ingresos. Obviamente inviertes en tiempo y en contenido original, y pienso que en lo que respecta al primero su valor es incalculable. Tristemente he conocido a muchos que luego de una gran inversión se encontraron ante una estafa y una enorme desilusión de la cual es difícil levantarse, entendiendo que la expresión "Mientras más inviertas más ganas" puede ser un arma muy peligrosa cuando se trata en sentido monetario.

Perhaps for some this type of entrepreneurship is somewhat retrograde and unattractive for the times in which we live, an era in which lifestyle and technology open a vast field to start a business. But there is no doubt how successful and effective this can be, something where the biggest investment is in the time and work that you yourself can give and that is within your reach. In this aspect, I have always thought that the best business is not the one that is measured by a large amount of money coming in, but the way in which with little time and effort you have the capacity to provide and enjoy the profit that you can generate.

Many people shy away from the idea of entrepreneurship because they do not have a large amount of money to invest, but is this a real obstacle? Is there a certain amount to start a business? Sometimes the first steps must be small and very slowly, to gradually grow at the pace of your work. "Investing in abundance" is not a guarantee for a successful business, and in many cases it depends more on time and dedication than on the money itself. You can even generate without investing any money, and although it may seem incredible it is totally true, taking as an example what we do and achieve through this platform.

And it has happened to many people that when I try to talk to them about Hive, some even doubt that it is something real because they do not have to invest in a monetary sense in order to generate and contribute from that same income. Obviously you invest in time and original content, and I think in terms of the former its value is incalculable. Sadly, I have met many who after a great investment found themselves in front of a scam and a huge disappointment from which it is difficult to get up, understanding that the expression "The more you invest, the more you earn" can be a very dangerous weapon when it comes to money.

Para nadie es un secreto la situación económica de Venezuela y muchos otros países, factor importante que ha privado a muchos de crear y creer en algún proyecto. Probablemente en este aspecto, es donde se puede mirar atrás y copiar ese modelo tan práctico y al alcance de todos, basado en lo que podemos producir desde nuestro hogar, ya sea a través del cultivo o la cría de animales. Volviendo a mi experiencia por la ciudad de Coro, me impresionó mucho la forma tan sencilla en como ellos pueden tener alimentos como huevos, leche, queso, mantequilla, harina y muchas frutas y hortalizas, sin ser tan expertos en la materia y sin esclavizarse a un trabajo.

Con el pasar del tiempo no podemos determinar qué tan difícil seguirán las cosas, pero lo que sí podemos hacer es manejar nuestro tiempo y trabajo de forma sabia. Existen métodos y muchos trabajos que sin ser tan llamativos nos pueden brindar cierta tranquilidad y equilibrio a la hora de proveer para nosotros y para alguien más. La diligencia siempre premia nuestros esfuerzos, y si nuestro enfoque siempre va dirigido hacia la manera de poder hacer algo que aporte a nuestro bienestar, la experiencia y los beneficios pueden llegar más allá de nuestras propias expectativas.

It is no secret that the economic situation in Venezuela and many other countries is an important factor that has deprived many from creating and believing in any project. Probably in this aspect, is where you can look back and copy this model so practical and available to everyone, based on what we can produce from home, either through cultivation or animal husbandry. Going back to my experience in the city of Coro, I was very impressed by the simple way in which they can have food such as eggs, milk, cheese, butter, flour and many fruits and vegetables, without being experts in the field and without being enslaved to a job.

As time goes by we cannot determine how difficult things will be, but what we can do is to manage our time and work wisely. There are methods and many jobs that without being so flashy can give us some peace of mind and balance when it comes to providing for ourselves and for someone else. Diligence always rewards our efforts, and if our focus is always directed towards doing something that contributes to our well-being, the experience and benefits can reach beyond our own expectations.
