What I feel
Awe and fear

Deep long breaths he took
To calm his sweaty hands that shook
His heart was like a race car
And he had no courage to move or start
Behind him his friends began to cheer him on
And he wondered why he thought this was fun
He didn't come up with the idea first
But he had wanted to quench his adventurous thirst
There is no going back now
But then he wondered just how
He had agreed to it all
Knowing he might fail or fall
He put his sweaty hands on the bike handle
And his shaky feet on the bike paddle
His movements began slow like a snail's
As he started the adventure hoping not to fail
The wind caressed his face
As he began to increase his pace
As quickly as it came it disappeared
The fear that had gnawed him was no longer there
Soon he was at the journey's end
With a feeling of joy that wasn't "pretend"
Fear is a place we all go to once in a while
