Sister "Uchenna" Is My Special Person #274

At her home, preparing for service.

Growing up, I was so attached to my eldest sister, "Uchenna" meaning God's Will. This made it difficult for me to sleep with my younger siblings. I prefer staying around her and sharing her bed. She assists me with my assignments and ensures that my clothes are washed and ironed by my siblings. While she is my eldest sister, I am her youngest sister, the lastborn.

Though this woman is a widow, she has been my confidant, mentor, and go-to person. She is reserved and wouldn’t play with my emotions or confidential matters. She is my counselor, and is filled with strength and vigour. More still, she derives joy in seeing others succeed. Houses other children and takes care of the students in the school where she is heading as the principal.

Went to a wedding occasion

When I failed my WAEC and re-sitting became challenging, she took it upon herself to hire a private tutor for me and ensured that I came out successful. My journey with her has been a smooth ride filled with great counsel and support in any way she can.

Her family

Within this past year, she has shown me the paths of success. For her, success is a good name, standing up for my rights, saying sorry when it is right, saying no when it is right, doing the right thing at the right time, avoiding procrastination, and choosing my friends wisely.

Making her happy when she was down in health

She has been with me through thick and thin, especially when I fell sick sometime last year and couldn’t go to work for several days, she would call morning, afternoon, and night, sending fruits and other native foods to aid my quick recovery. In like manner, I travelled to take care of her when she was ill. It was a surreal moment for us.

Secondly, when there was an issue at my place of work that caused restlessness and near depression, she looked out for me, prayed, and even went an extra mile to sign an undertaking on my behalf before further investigation cleared all doubts.

However, sometimes we disagree to agree, have some loggerheads. This shows that we are not perfect humans but rather work-in-progress. The most important thing is that we make up quickly and move on.

Additionally, I have learnt a lot of African and international cuisines.
In conclusion, life would have been haggard, and my story would not be complete without my eldest sister, with whom I am well pleased.
