My New Year Starts With SMART Goal Settings And Objectives

There is a popular saying that “new year begats new things” in other words “new year, new things.” Hence, every 365 days, as the year winds down, individuals, businesses, both small and large, and other organisations, including religious ones, will start winding down and positioning themselves to do better in the coming year. They will leverage their successes in the past year, work on their failures to re-strategise, and make the new year a better year.

Setting a New Year's resolution is a yearly ritual for me. The new year marks the end of an old chapter while opening a new chapter for me to rewrite and correct errors and mistakes I made in the previous year, work on my weaknesses, and improve on my successes. This would not only put me on track for the new year but would also propel me to accelerate to higher ground.

Secondly, I proceed with goal setting. I do this after having a personal retreat and deep reflection on the past year, and a plan to hit the ground running in the new year. I set S.M.A.R.T (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and time-bound) goals.

For this year, my set goals include academic improvement, character realignment, choosing and maintaining good relationships with my friends and loved ones. Upgrading my knowledge and certificate-wise, and repositioning myself to learn, unlearn, and improve on the Hive blockchain.

Though the year in my country started with a lot of speculation, political alignment, and implementation of the new Tax Law, which has sparked public outcry, it seems unstoppable at the moment. I am therefore hoping to improve my savings, invest more, and open more streams of income.

However, sometimes we plan and implementation becomes a challenge, I am hoping and determined to be more focused and reach out to friends and mentors anytime I witness a roadblock instead of giving up. I am also planning on managing my resources within my monthly budgets to avoid bad debts or reckless spending.

In conclusion, if I can translate all these plans into actions and execute them properly, the sky will be my stepping stone. The year will also be one to reckon with.
