Technology has brought hope, light, and transformation to mankind. The inventors, content creators, financial houses, children, adults, and even the elderly have gained something from technology, one way or another. That does not mean that it has been rosy with technology and its rate of transformation at different levels of life.

The introduction of the telephone as a means of communication in my country was an emancipation for the citizens.

During COVID-19, technology assisted employers and employees to run businesses efficiently and effectively. During the period of Ebola, telemedicine was utilised to attend to sick patients.

Technology has paved the way for the introduction of robots in the supply chain for loading and quick service. Again, the gaming world has witnessed a transformation across generations of PlayStation, and the current trend is to use an HD screen to play games.

Furthermore, the home appliances have seen some upgrades and sync. The normal LED screen is gradually being phased out and replaced by the smart Television. The introduction of apps that make payments easy is not left out. Apps like the Opay, Palm pay have reduced the burden of excess charges and made life easier. It is also technology that brought the riders hub, like the bolt, In-drive services.

Additionally, the introduction of writing apps like AI and ChatGPT is a revolutionary technology. I will not forget the recent launch of electric motors. All this is evidence that technology meant well for humanity. What about solar energy and agricultural mechanisation? They are all evidence of technology outfits around us.

However, the concept of technology has been misunderstood by some individuals. The influx of Yahoo and online scammers is an example of such negative people. The overuse of social media and its addiction have impacted some people negatively.

In my country, the wrong usage of social media has become a concern for the government and even some individuals. People have been bullied out of social media space, while some have been mentally affected due to the fake and audio lifestyle that seems to be the other if the days. Information is blatantly shared without verification. All these are issues of concern in technology.

The introduction of automation and the use of robots has caused serious job loss, leading to unemployment for the masses.

Finally, I will say that technology has impacted lives positively and caused a serious revolution locally and worldwide. The way forward is to strike a balance between dependence and overusage.
