Hello, Draw A Day community and friends. I am sharing you my insights about the entries for the Forest Folk Worldbuilding Contest prompt 1 – Homes of the Forest Folks. We received many wonderful submissions and looked at each one carefully for creativity, details, and artistic skill. Here, I will show how each artist imagined the homes of the forest folks. I decided that aside from the grand winner, I will pick two runners up so wait for the announcement of winners soon.

Here are my personal assessments of the submitted entries:

Entry 1: @loverdoll

Creativity:
creatively blending rustic cabin elements with woodland characteristics. The intricate wooden details and the way fungi and foliage integrate around its base make it feel deeply rooted in the forest like a fairytale storybook

Detail:
rich with detail, showcasing the textures of wood, and the variety of plants and mushrooms around. The distinct windows and balcony add character and suggest a lived in space. It clearly explores the idea of a Forest Folk home.

Artistry:
crisp line art ,balanced composition, strong sense of depth from the surrounding trees and the way the house sits firmly in its environment contribute to its overall charm.

Entry 2: @doodletrends

Creativity:
whimsical and unique, with its distinctive mushroom cap roof
playful and imaginative dwelling for a Forest Folk creature.

Detail:
different window shapes, the textured walls, balcony, flag on the roof, making it feel specific and quirky. The simple steps also add to its functional appeal.

Artistry:
bold outlines and bright, clear colors give this home a friendly, cartoon like charm. The composition is straightforward, focusing on the distinctive shape of the house. It has a cheerful and direct artistic style.

Entry 3: @murnhollow

Creativity:
creative and elegant, envisioned as a delicate pod hanging from a branch. highly original and truly embodies the idea of a home grown from the forest. It suggests a very light and ethereal Forest Folk occupant.

Detail:
details are subtle but effective, focusing on the organic texture of the pod and the small, perfectly integrated wooden door. The way it's suspended and the surrounding leaves emphasize its natural, unobtrusive integration.

Artistry:
The soft, glowing colors and smooth shading create a magical and serene atmosphere. The clean lines and elegant composition make the home the clear focal point, evoking a sense of calm and wonder. It has a sophisticated and enchanting style.

Entry 4: @cjsean

Creativity:
presents multiple homes integrated into towering, whimsical tree-like or fungi-like structures, connected by pathways. While it shows a community, each individual dwelling is a distinct and imaginative Forest Folk home, built directly into the natural elements of its environment.

Detail:
Each structure shows specific details like windows, doors, and various levels, suggesting functional living spaces. The surrounding forest elements are also richly detailed, helping to anchor the homes within the world.

Artistry:
The bold outlines combined with the soft, atmospheric coloring give this piece a unique, storybook quality. The composition is inviting the viewer to explore the interconnected homes and their forest setting. It has a fantastic worldbuilding feel through its artistry.

Entry 5: @zifku

Creativity:
charming simplicity and directness, appearing as a cozy dwelling built right into an earthy mound. It evokes the "tucked beneath tree roots" aspect of the prompt.

Detail:
focused on the immediate surroundings, with different textures for the greenery and a path leading to the blue door. It feels unassuming and deeply integrated.

Artistry:
The crayon or oil pastel effect gives this piece a soft, textured, and heartfelt quality. The earthy color palette feels authentic to a woodland setting. The composition is straightforward and welcoming, highlighting the entrance to the home.

Entry 6: @boley

Creativity:
literal and imaginative interpretation of a tree home, where the dwelling itself is a charming tree trunk with a cozy door and window. The inclusion of a small narrative scene (dining by the water) makes the home feel incredibly alive and part of a vibrant world.

Detail:
The foliage and the wooden steps leading to the water, are well-executed. The surrounding forest and the elements of the dining scene add depth and enhance the sense of a functional dwelling.

Artistry:
The clear lines and vibrant colors give this piece an illustrative quality. The composition is drawing the eye from the foreground to the central tree-house, creating an engaging scene.

Entry 7: @london65

Creativity:
unique, almost igloo-like form, topped with whimsical mushrooms, suggesting a dwelling made from found forest materials or even carved from a large, soft fungus. It's imaginative and feels very suited to a magical forest setting.

Detail:
textured stone path, the vegetable garden and mushrooms on the chimney, and the different window designs. The wisps of smoke from the chimney add a touch of life and coziness.

Artistry:
The soft, painterly style with visible brushstrokes creates a dreamy and gentle atmosphere. The cool blue of the main structure contrasts effectively with the earthy tones of the path and fungal elements. The composition is clear and inviting.

Entry 8: @artofkylin

Creativity:
this entry presents actual homes within its panels: two distinct "Perfect Homes" built into tree trunks with specific features. The innovation lies in the presentation of these homes as customizable apartments for Forest Folk.

Detail:
The details of the homes themselves are shown through their integration into the tree trunks, the presence of various "shelf fungas" (which could be platforms or decorations), and even furniture options inside. It encourages imagination about the specifics of the dwelling.

Artistry: The style is more schematic, but the drawings of the homes are clear and charming. The overall layout is well-organized, and the distinct panels effectively highlight the different aspects of these forest dwellings. While not a single scenic drawing, it offers detailed ideas of multiple homes.

Entry 9: @dalibra

Creativity:
beautifully portrays a classic, charming tree house, with the entrance and window integrated into the natural form of a tree trunk. The addition of flowering vines makes it feel particularly magical and organic.

Detail:
the texture of the tree bark, the simple yet inviting blue door, and the bright, organic flowers growing from the trunk. The subtle floating fireflies add a touch of enchantment to the scene, implying life within.

Artistry:
The soft, blended colors create a warm and inviting atmosphere, especially with the glow from the window. The composition of the tree house is appealing, and the overall style is illustrative and gentle, making it feel very cozy and lived in.

Entry 10: @vvodjiu

Creativity:
This entry offers a unique and subtle interpretation, suggesting a hidden home completely nestled within the natural environment, specifically behind cascading vines and next to a tree trunk. It's imaginative in its concept of camouflaged dwelling.

Detail:
the rich textures of the various plants the tree bark, the lush hanging vines, and the surrounding grasses. The implied entrance behind the foliage sparks curiosity.

Artistry:
The detailed foreground creates a striking and evocative atmosphere. The different shades of green are well-rendered, and the composition effectively hints at a secret world.
