A life without a partner would only last for a short time because humans are not immortal; we have a life span, and once we exhaust it, we die... There are certain things that could increase or decrease our life span, which is why most of us prioritize our health.
In a scenario where I am the only man left on Earth, I will survive, but only for a short time due to some things that will take place.
Being the only man on earth means that within a few weeks or months, all the technology, such as electricity, mobile networks, and the internet, as well as the water supply system, will stop working because they rely on people to maintain them, and not just any person, but an expert in the field.
Most of these things would be useless anyway, cos what would I need the internet for when I'm the only one left? Nor do I need a mobile network. No one to reach out to. Electricity will still be important, but unfortunately, I am not an expert in the field, so I would have to rely on natural light, like my forefathers.

Within the next 1 year, nature will take over, all the big buildings and skyscrapers will be covered by weed, buildings starts decaying cos of the mold and no one to maintain it, everywhere will be green but this green comes with the wild life, so I expected different kind of predators to also return which is the beginning of my problem...
I might be able to create a haven for myself and bring in plenty of ammunition to protect myself, but until when? I will eventually get tired of the day and night and give up on life itself.
It would have been better if we were two, me and the opposite gender, this gives hope to multiply... There would be something worth fighting for.

You're right, having a partner in this situation would be best because as you said we die which is inevitable.

A dire situation to be in, life will be quite meaningless in that scenario, maybe spend my days roaming about until there's nowhere left to go.
