Source of my stress: Electricity and Data network

avatar

Few months ago, two things that were stressing me out were electricity and a bad network, it was just so frustrating when I could not do my work because the network is so poor that I had to buy another sim network which seems to be the best in the area but still once in a while, it is also bad.

source

Fortunately, my main network is good now, and only misbehave once in a while, especially at night so I always try to finish my work early during the day, so that solves the network stress.

The main thing stressing me out right now is Electricity, it has not been stable enough for the past weeks and it does not use to be like this, cos most time there is always light and if they are going to take it, it would be just for 2 to 3 hours but now they off it all day and when they on it, it is either for 2 to 3 hours or they on it in the midnight.

At first, I was thinking of getting solar but that would cost me 350 000 Naira, and am not ready to use such an amount for stable electricity right now, a generator which seems to be the next option is better but then again they increase the price of fuel recently, that is not really the issue though, I feel lazy to go and carry the generator.

I have been able to keep my phones on all day with the help of my power bank but I don't have a power bank for my laptop so I need to charge it.

I have been charging in the security lodge for a while now which seems to be the only option that won't cost me money but it is stressful having to plug my laptop and sit down with it for an hour or 2 just to make sure no one tamper with it after what happened to my power bank.

I finally solved the ish yesterday though, I went to fix my second laptop its screen got damaged 3 months ago while I was moving to my new apartment so I don't really need to charge in the security lodge anymore, the two laptops would serve me till there is electricity to charge, I would just make sure to only use them when necessary and use my mobile most time.

My advice to those using laptops, especially screen touch is that they should start pampering it like a baby, I was shocked yesterday when the money I budgeted was not enough to fix it, I left home with the belief that the new screen would cost probably 40 000 Naira only to get there and I was told it is 95 000 naira and 3 000 Naira to fix it... Just for the screen! and I still need to change the battery as well and also some minor faults.

Thanks to my amazingly good friends @quduus1 and @treasuree who came through for me with an emergency fund because I didn't plan to spend such an exorbitant amount yesterday but am glad I got it fixed and finally got rid of the stress of going out to charge.

It was huge and the laptop needs to be pampered like an egg now xd..... I think it all depends on what needs to be fixed in your laptop, if the amount they are calling for a fix is almost the same as the amount you bought it, it is better to buy a new one...

Omoo this gives me chills....95k for screen, this country.... honestly I think if u can afford the solar that'd be much more better, getting fuel at 600 now is like buy cup of rice at 400 naira....u know it was take long b4 the gen consumes one liter so you'll probably need more. But the screen scares me the most, budget of 40k turned 95...likeee....but nevertheless we strive, good to see u winning over the struggles, just keep pushing.... everything will be better in time.

Yea, the inverter is actually the best option, I would have gotten it 3 months ago but suddenly the electricity became better and they only took it for like 2 to 3 hours as I mentioned in the post, they just started this ish during the fuel scarcity so am hoping they would change again... Thanks man

Omo... that electricity issue is frustrating and stressing me here too. Imagine not having light for over 3 months now and I always enter into the school campus to charge at night and would stay with it for 2hrs before going home. Seriously, it's not always easy but I have no choice. Most times, I will just keep grumbling but nothing can be done. I started taking my laptop to charge yesterday which will continue till only when God knows we would have light. My main concern is security at my area but the system is what makes it easier for me to work on than mobile. But I will definitely be careful and pamper my baby with lot of care. Lol

Sorry about your laptop and glad your friends came through to help you out. It is another reason one should be intentional about emergency fund.

yea but this time my budgeted fund could not finish the task, apart from emergency fund , one should also have emergency friends lol

Burl, see ehn, I don't have the choice. My area is kind of unsafe but I am just careful with my stuff.

Rainy season has also begin to cause some troubles with our electric supply so I always have to keep my laptop charge in reserve and only use desktop computer when electricity is available and when it comes to my phones, I bought solar powered fan with phone charger socket so I could keep on using it.

Exactly, it can annoying when you don’t have electricity. We don’t have electricity at all here. It is always frustrating especially when fuel is expensive.

It is a wise step that you made. At least it would last for a while.

@quduus1 and @treasuree is such an amazing friend.

Electricity is giving me good trouble also. In the last recent month, it's become irritating and it's enough to ruin my mood. But the good thing is that last 2 days the electricity supply is well.

yea, I didn't expect such a fee to fix the screen too but it is better that I did it because in a few month's time, it will be above 100

Sure thing, what goes up in Nigeria most times don't come down. 🙈😃

So it's better how you fix it once and for all now. 👍
