Passion is dying and we are the ones killing it

The first time I realized that churches and schools had turned into profit-driven organizations was a few years ago. I recall seeing three to four churches on a single street, and private schools are also not far from one another; you can also see two schools on the same street.

What saddens me the most is the church. Pastors were once truly called by God to carry the gospel, but now it seems every Tom, Dick, and Harry wants to start their own church. You will see names like Harvest church, Sanctuary This, Deliverance That, all popping up on every corner.

And when someone isn't truly called by God, they end up giving false prophecies. They start seeking power from the wrong places just to perform fake miracles, all so people will flock to their church.

The one that hit me the most was during the coronavirus period. Business places were shut down - even churches were closed, yet many church leaders started telling people to pay their tithes and offering online, like where do you want people to see money for such when everyone is literally jobless due to the lockdown!

This kinda changed my mind about church, but then, God exists! And He is everywhere, and also He loves the Church! [A church is a place where people gather in two or three to praise and pray to Him]. So I do what I do in the House of God for God, I don't care if the prophet or pastor is false, I went there to connect to God, and once I am done, I leave!.

I also miss the old time that it is only one school that will be in a town, even during my days in secondary school, there was only two private school in my town and the only government school was for the primary pupil, the one for the secondary student was located in another town, so when I finished my Jss3 in one of the private school, I had to attend the gov sec school in the next town but now we have more than 10 private secondary school in the same town and it would be more now because the last time I was there was 2016.

The same thing happening in the church is now happening everywhere. People chase titles and positions, not purpose. Just like many pastors now start churches for profit, people no longer chose their careers out of passion or calling. They go for what brings money or fame. Not everyone who wants to be a doctor truly loves the profession. Some can't even stand the sight of blood or an open wound, yet they still dream of becoming doctors simply because the job is well paid and highly respected in society... The same applies to most people on Hive, 50 percent of hivers ain't writers, but here we are, we have grown to love blogging and also improved because we need to make money. Sometimes it is due to hunger and lack of basic things, while for some people it is greed fueling their act.

One of the ways to find our way back to old times, where people do not take a profession just to get rich, is when people start leading by example. I am a farmer, and I am proud of my work, the purpose is not to get rich but to make sure humans are not hungry, if someone comes out to say this, we have others that will follow in that direction and to cut it short, once we are proud of the profession or vocation we love and do it heartedly without thinking of getting rich, money will follow and it will also be a motivation for others to follow our footsteps.

I know many of us don't accept that we became business minded already but it's the reality. We came to such a level that we can do business on dead body also. Maybe it sounds harsh but nobody can change the reality.
