Unfortunately, they are not well compensated for their effort, and to make it worse, they made it so hard for them to impart the knowledge to kids.
Sometime around the year 2018, there was a new law that prohibited teachers from using a cane on their pupils/students. I was a teacher at that time, not because the salary was tempting but because I loved imparting knowledge to the students, and I love it when the parents are happy with my work in helping their children.
Not using a cane was the height for me, not because I flogged my pupils anyhow, but the presence of the cane alone put the fear in them that they need to behave themselves, the moment it gt banned, many teachers lost their grip on their students, and they became more defiant, it was not the same in my case cos I didn't follw the rules, I still use cane when necessary until I quit teaching.

During my time in primary school, I feared my class teacher because she was a disciplinarian and didn't spare the rod when she teaches and we didn't understand. When playing outside, and someone tells me my teacher is passing, I disappear within a few seconds, unlike now, when students don't care; they don't even respect their teachers in school, let alone outside.
A lot has gone wrong in the educational sector, our government keeps trying to imitate the western cuture, forgetting we are a different breed, even sme nigerians refuse to raise their kids abroad for fear of them getting spoiled, yet our government still try to imitate that same thing some of our people try to avoid.
At this point, we are now. If I see my student misbehaving outside, I won't interfere cos my discipline ends in the school; the parents are to take care of their children when they are at home.
The way it is designed now, most parents don't like it when teachers discipline their children, and we see them coming to school to complain, with some going to the extreme of fighting or beating the teacher involve, imagine disciplining the child of such a parent outside the school premises; that is like stepping on the tail of a snake.
School has lost its credibility the moment we started to copy the western culture, our government didn't copy how the foreign countries support their jobless citizens, their old citizens that could not work anymore with money, their 24/7 electricity, their tight security but it is those baseless things like tax and others they will always imitate, what a country I was born into!

First: you shouldn't be a teacher, because you cannot spell or write grammatically correct sentences.
Second: you should be arrested for physically abusing your students.

It irritates me when I see parents fight teachers for helping them discipline their children.
You are right, alot have gone wrong in the educational sectors, I know a school that only the headmistress can flogs, teachers aren't permitted to flog kids.
I don't support teachers who flog anyhow, but sparing the rod is never an option.
A lot has gone wrong indeed because not every child takes instructions without a form of force. And you even get to see parents without shame that comes to the school to challenge teachers for flogging the kids though there are teachers who overdo.

yea right, some teachers overdo it,but banning the cane isn't the right way, those who ban the use of the cane have never taught, so they don't really understand what teachers are facing.

I think in the earlier days who raised their hands against me I hate those teachers from the heart but the number of the that kind of teacher in my life is only one and I think I was beaten unfairly for no reason. I don't even say hi to the teacher even if the teacher come in front of me because I think the person don't deserve to be a teacher.
In case of outside of school I think teacher has no right to discipline a student unless it's related to school. It's the personal issue of student and teacher should not when to draw line.
Luckily for me, I knew how to read when I was in primary school so I escaped my class teachers cane but won’t say the same for my friend, I believe he might have resentment for the teacher till now cos she flogged him many times those days….

So true. This happens in many countries, like mine for example. Instilling discipline in students using appropriate methods is becoming increasingly difficult. And if we consider that teachers sometimes do not have support from families or the government, the difficulty is doubled. We must prioritize respect for teachers.
They are making teachers work more tedious yet the salary is nothing good to talk about .
