Freedom can be a blessing or a curse, it all depends on the individual mindset, some people gain their freedom, explore life in a good way to become successful, while some take their freedom for granted, engage in bad things that ruined their life in which they end up regretting...
I will be sharing the story of two people, a guy and a lady who gained their freedom and what they used it to do...
This guy lived with his parent and he was always monitored by the mother, he can't stay out for too long or else the mother will come searching for him with Mr. do good, Aside the fact that he was scared of Mr. do good, he also hate the embarrassment of being pursued on the street by his mum, so he always make sure to be at alert all the time, both hunter and the prey are monitoring each other, this continued till he finished his secondary school and he decided to leave home for a greener pasture....
He became free and his destiny lies in his hand, he could have followed bad gang, start smoking and doing all sort of things but he was a dreamer that want the good thing of life.. He used his freedom for something positive....
He started hustling day and night, made no friends with negative people and he always keep to himself as he doesn't want to lose focus, at the end of it, he became great in life....
He invested in so many things, build many houses and had a lot of passive income, he made it in life and at the age of 50 years, he does not need to work anymore because he did all the work in his youthful age, he earn passive income on his investment, he gave all his time to his family and he is a true definition of a free man.....
The lady also lived with her parent, she was not allowed to have friends that are boys talk less of being so close with one, she hate her life and always wish to be free someday... Her prayer was answered when she gained admission into the university...
Finally! she was free.. She does not have to hide her male friends anymore and what makes her more happy is that she can now have a lover... The first guy that came her way was a player and being a desperate lady who needs a lover in her life, she didn't know she was being played, the guy disflowered her and after some more fun, he abandoned her..
She was so heart broken that she started drinking and smoking, she started mingling with the bad girls in school, in no time she has started doing what they practice, following big men around, having sex and getting paid, night parties was a frequent thing...
Abortion was nothing in her eyes.... She was living the life until nemesis caught up on her.....
She realized she was getting thinner and weaker day by day and she was advised by her friend to go for medical check up, she got the saddest news of her life on her visit there... She has been infected with HIV...
She fainted and when she regained her consciousness, she could not pinpoint who infected her, because she had unprotected sex with many men... that was how her life was ruined....
She finally understand why her parent didn't give her the freedom back then and wish time can be reversed.. She wished she never gained admission, she wished she never left home but it is too late.....The deed is done....
Freedom is never a bad thing, it all depends on the person and what they use their freedom to do.... Some people are not wise because they are living in the comfort of their parent house, they never experience the hardship of life and they may never be able to stand on their own two feet because they are being carried like a child by their lovely parent....
I believe one should be allowed to experience life but know your kids, and always advice them when they are far from you....Not all kids have a great mindset and some can be easily influenced...

I don't like the idea of total freedom. Rules that prevent us from having total freedom, such as family rules, laws of nature, and human laws, are important factors that keep humanity in check.
What I don't like about society right now is that some people believe that, since they live in a free world, it's okay to do whatever they want. As a result, they not only harm themselves but also harm others.

Certainly, we could think about freedom when we left the chains that opress our fre will, but sometimes we loose from those chains to get caught by other ones that are invisibles to us. Those invisible chains are vices.
I love your title so much, indeed freedom can either be a blessing or a curse depending on how we handle it. Most individuals think, since we have the opportunity now let's rock it like there's no tomorrow, but the wise know that life is too short, what you sow, is what you will reap, every little opportunity you get is for you to make things better and not to waste away.
Your story is very touching, but it is not for is to be emotional but to learn the lesson. Our parents have really played their parts. We will not be monitored by them forever, a point will reach where will have to choose for ourselves, that one on it's own is freedom. A point will come in life where you will have the right to do almost all that you have ever wanted to do, the choice you make during that moment is what will determine how your life will be. If we don't know where to put a full stop to our freedom, it may end up being a curse to us.

My mom use to say something that the more you cage a girl the more she wants to go outside
Making her stay indoors all through her life will make her crave for staying outside because she doesn't have the freedom to see how things is been run outside
And by the time she will ha the freedom she will definitely misused it just like the lady you wrote about.
Truly the world is free but there are some certain things someone shouldn't do because no one will question you.

i agree with you that. the fact she was caged made her want to explore more, but what actually ruined her was the first guy she met i think, if only that guy was good, maybe she wont have ended up that way
Imagine how the young lady ruined her life with her own hand all in the name of freedom. Not everyone can handle freedom indeed. Many will use it negatively while some will take advantage of it to develop themselves.
I had a lady in my class back then in the university...the parents were deeper life bible church member and so they restricted this gal from living life until she came to the school...hhhmmm, her way ward life became double...it was horrible... and while traveling home, she will disguise as a believer...long skirt and scarf to show the parents that she is still in faith lol 😂,Wen she has already been used by virtually all our class boys
So sad for that young lady. Freedom is sweet and good. But it is harmful is we don't always check it.
