Are blue collar Jobs the new gold or have they always been

Nowadays, many things have changed. Gone are those days when people were eager to go to school because they wanted to do a white collar job. I think the narrative is different now; people's eyes have opened, and most have started to realize the importance of blue-collar jobs.

I am not writing this post to criticize or look down upon white collar jobs, but truth be told, most while collar jobs can't sustain a family in this economy. It was before I used to think bankers earn a lot of money, I judged their pockets with the huge amount of money they control daily, until reality dawned on me that their salary isn't as enticing as we think, though some who occupy high positions there can boast of a fat salary but majority of them earn less and with the current economy what they earn won't sustain a family of 4. The rent, utility bills, foodstuffs, and children's school fees have swallowed it up, and I don't even think it can cover them all, yet there are still other expenses that need to be taken care of.

The easiest white collar job to get after graduating is teaching, but it also has one of the worst salaries, especially the private sector which is why it is not ideal for a man to stick with it, cos they have more mouth to feed, women can still do it since they only doing as a support and they are not the main provider... However, it was difficult to finish school, and you are being offered 40k as a salary with your degrees.

Some of the blue-collar jobs, often referred to as dirty jobs, like farming, mechanics, plumbing, and the like, pay way higher than most white collar jobs, especially if you are good at what you do and you have many customers patronizing you.

The reason why some people go to school nowadays is for validation, just so others can know they also graduated. Once they are done with it, they discard their certificate and head back out onto the street to hustle.

White collar jobs' salary is fixed, but for blue collar, it all deals with the work you can do and your customers.

Even though I don't regret not learning a vocation when I was still young, I still wish I did, but the good thing is it is never too late to learn it, and I might learn one if the need arises!. And if there is one I can learn now, it is Tailoring because it doesn't require one to be dirty and yet still pays well. One just needs to be able to make their customers look great in their wear and money will come on its own.

I've known a few people who have blue collar jobs and like the flexibility they have with different clients and the contract structure is quite straightforward and the work is pretty much specific. I don't appreciate much white collar office work with all that bureaucracy lol.
