A Money Transaction that went wrong
I have never held 200,000 Naira in cash, it is always an Electronic transfer...

I would say that when this no-cash policy started, some of us were worried about how we would cope, especially with mothers who sold things in the market and were unfamiliar with such a lifestyle. Will it be possible to buy 50 Naira pure water and do a transfer, no no, but we do not have to worry about such things again because everything has inflated in price, and I can't even remember the last time I saw our small denomination currency like 10 naira and 20 naira... They are close to useless because there is nothing to use them to buy anymore.
As humans, we can withstand any situation; it didn't take much time before we all adjusted to the no-cash policy. Most people doing business have a Pos to make their transactions easier and faster, all customers need to do is give them the card and input their PIN
I like this modern era better, it is more secure... unlike in the past that people walk around with cash and also keep lot of cash in the house which makes them a target for thieves, I am not saying that doesn't happen anymore, but it can't be compare to those days.
Millions can be transacted now just by clicking few buttons, no hassle of travelling from one place just to deliver money, no fear of armed robbers hijacking your bag full of money, even though we have some thieves who can steal your phone and hack your account with your details in their possession but this requires some smartness and not all thieves are smart enough to do this.
I used to blame people who mistakenly transfer money to the wrong bank account. I feel their mistake was a result of their carelessness and impatience until it happened to me.

On that fateful day, I wanted to transfer money to my sister on my OPay account, and she was already among my recent recipients, so I just clicked on her name and transferred the 15k, my OPay doesn't require putting pin during transfer because I use face Id instead, just as I click send and my face signed the transaction, I realize it was another account the money was going and it was too late to cancel it.
I started sweating that the person beside me could not help it and he said, why am I sweating because of 15k, that he would have think that was my last card if he doesn't know me better, but I think the reason I was sweating was because I feel so bad for making such a silly mistake...
The account number I sent the money to looks familiar, so I was trying to recollect who owns it, but my memory was blank... The reason was that the transaction with the account was 250 Naira, That could not have been a pos withdrawal, and i just could not remember what I bought for such a low amount so I decided to call the number since it is also an Opay account, the person picked and while I was trying to explain what happened to her, she cut the call, looks like she doesn't want to return the money but one good thing was that the voice on call also sound familiar and it only took me few minutes to remember that it was the lady at the gym center.
I sent her a text message explaining what happened and making sure she realizes I already know her and she should help me send the money to my account, which I sent along with the text... Oh well,l she sent it back but removed 500 Naira as charges, Imagine! But I didn't mind as long as I got the rest of the money....
I was lucky because I know the person; if it were a random account, I might not be that lucky...

Sometimes we also make mistakes unintentionally. Your case was the similar. Fortunately you got your money back..
Yeah, I was lucky to get it back. Some months before it happened to me, my sister mistakenly sent 30k to the wrong account. Unfortunately, the person didn't return the money and also blocked her from calling.
If it was a random account, then it depends if the person is a faithful person, if the person isn't then the recipient might not even bother to pick your calls. Thank God you recovered it back.
yea it is a 50 50 chance, someone didn't send back my sis 30k whereas someone also mistakenly sent money to my account, it was a p2p transaction, he already sent my 9k but mistakenly send another fund which is 30k to my account again, he messaged me and i transferred it back to him, if it was someone else, they could have seen it as God returning their family money to them lol
Lol you were definitely lucky with that one. 😄 that mini heart attack when you realise you sent money to the wrong account is no joke. Its crazy how quick and easy transfers are now, but one small slip and boom... stress. I laughed at the part where the person beside you asked why you're sweating over 15k 😅 but honestly, it's not even about the amount sometimes -it's just how bad the mistake feels. That gym lady was bold with the 500 naira charge though. Glad it ended well
lol you get it, it was not the money but the fact that i could lose the money in such a way is kinda painful and makes me feel stupid.
Oh well, I didn't even raise an eyebrow, at least I got the larger part of the money back.
