I'm Going International

I never thought I'd actually get around to traveling much until I was older. As luck would have it, I have the opportunity to travel in the near future. It's nothing glamorous, but it does require a short stop in Canada, and despite being our friendly neighbor to the north, they'll turn me away without a passport.

I figured I'd be traveling much later in life. Kids will eat you out of house and home. Mine certainly are, and they're not even teenagers yet! I can only imagine how much they'll eat once they hit puberty! That said, my wife and I have a rare opportunity to get away for a bit, so I now officially have a passport.

I also ordered the card, but I'm guessing that will be mailed separately. If not, I guess I'll be making a phone call. The nice part about having my passport is I don't need that obnoxious Real ID card to fly. I'm not wasting time on that nonsense when a passport takes roughly the same amount of effort, satisfies the requirement of a Real ID card and lets me travel internationally. Sure, it costs more but I won't need to renew it anytime soon. As an added benefit, I was able to schedule a Saturday appointment to finalize all of the paperwork and didn't have to wait in line. Try doing that at the DMV!

Now that I have a passport, I have less of an excuse to dismiss going on vacation outside the US. I'll have to start making a list of places I want to visit. The fun begins!
