Earn DUO by Creating Content

Most non-tribal tokens that provide dividends, curation or other benefits typically require buy-in or delegating HP. You don't typically earn them from posting. That is quickly changing with DUO, and I think it's a great opportunity!

I don't want to spend an entire post summarizing what the program does. For details on how the Post to Earn program works, you can get more information here. I prefer to talk about the benefits.

The biggest thing many new Hiveians struggle with is exposure and earning from the content they post. The earnings are usually small for a while, until a person becomes more established and known in different communities. They build a following, hone their work, and start seeing earnings incrementally grow over time.

With the Post to Earn program, anyone can earn DUO by adding @duo-curator as a 10% beneficiary. When the post pays out, the curator account pays out 5% of the post's Hive value in DUO, based on current market price. With DUO currently selling for about 1.5 HIVE each, that means a post earning $1 can earn a decent amount of DUO. Let's do the math!

So $0.50 of the post earnings go to the author and beneficiary(ies). Take $0.50 and convert this from HBD to HIVE, so $0.50/$0.1088 (Price of HIVE currently) = 4.59 HIVE.

Multiply 4.59 × 0.10 (10%) = 0.459 HIVE.

Now add the 5% bonus, so 1.05 x 0.459 = 0.48

0.48 ÷ 1.5 (Market price of DUO) = 0.32 DUO bonus

That DUO is worth 0.48 HIVE, and remember the author still gets 90% of their half of the post, so they have another 4.13 HIVE in their wallet (Less if they opted for pure HP payout or chose not to convert their HBD). So they earned a total HIVE equivalent of 4.61 compared to 4.59. Multiply that many times over and anyone can easily start building a nice stack of DUO!

At this point, the author can stake the DUO to eventually earn dividends and possible curation on future posts (200 staked minimum), or they can sell it for liquid HIVE.
