2022 1/4oz Perth Mint Gold Phoenix Coin
I bought this coin over a year ago and forgot about it. It ended up in a pile of other gold and silver that needed to be accounted for, but it's so small by comparison that it got lost among the larger items. Imagine my pleasant surprise when I found it after thinking I had sold it!
Obverse
Let's be honest. Nobody cares about this side, right? Let's move on to the important part of the coin that has actual eye appeal!
Reverse
Here we are! The Perth Mint does a great job with their designs! The feathers are very detailed considering how small the coin is. I love that they designed it in flight, with its tail becoming a large fireball!
I love it when the main focus of the coin is polished. While this coin isn't a reverse proof, it has the feel of one. I love the horiztonal lines they added to the smoke/clouds on the size to add some differing texture from the matte background and polished phoenix.
Sadly, with gold prices as high as they are, I don't foresee buying many more pieces like this anytime soon. This will definitely be one of the last pieces I'd part with if I needed to sell some of my stack
