1oz Silver A-Mark "Type 2" Bar

I came across an older bar when I was at my local coin store a little while back. I was surprised to see it since typically, all I find are generic buffalo rounds. Silver is silver, but when I can get vintage silver at $1/oz over spot, I'm going to take it!

I came across a 1-oz "Type 2" A-Mark bar. The company is still in business, but they don't offer this bar for sale anywhere that I can find.

Obverse

No, I didn't get lucky and find a low serial number bar. From what I've read online, they all either have A0100 or A0101 stamped on them. Still, it's a cool little bar and piece of history since these go back to the 80s.

Reverse

There's nothing fancy happening on the back. It's a simple bullion bar, but silver is silver.

The original bars, or "Type 1" bars, are more sought after due to their unique shape. They are thicker and shorter and can be stacked.

I eventually plan on getting one if I can find a decent deal. The Type 2 bars go for around $50+ online in good condition. This one is in okay condition. For $1 over spot, I'm not complaining. If you find one of these at a decent price, don't pass up the chance!

Thanks! Yeah, I like them a lot more. The only downside is the premiums can't get pricey on them if you can't find them cheap locally.

That condition looks incredible.

The designs are seen clearly and stuff.

I kind of like the bars simplistic design..

Thanks! Yeah, you can't go wrong with simple designs. They tend to last longer over time, since smaller details wear off.

A-Mark is definitely still around. They own controlling shares of big bullion retailers such as APMEX, silvergoldbull, etc and including the Hong Kong retailer LPM Group ltd which I mentioned in my recent Dragon Coin post.
I do have 2 or 3 of their 10 Troy oz generic silver A-Mark bars.

Oh, cool! Are thd 10oz this same style, or are they more of the wafer/chocolate bar style?

I dug them out to be sure.
They're just the ordinary generic non-vintage type.

Now I remember, these are the front line stack, the first to go if I needed the cash or swap in an G/S ratio swap. My memory is diminishing.
