1/4oz Silver Aztec Calendar Round

You know life is busy when you buy silver and completely forget about it. That was me when I saw a small bubble wrap envelope in my mailbox from "Heavenly Metals." I was scratching my head for a bit while I tried to remember where I had bought it.

It turns out I bought it on Amazon because I had some money left over on a gift card and decided to grab this. It was $22.99, so it was the complete opposite of smart stacking. Still, considering it was a bonus gift card from work, why not?

Obverse

I'm not certain if this is the "obverse," but that's what I'm calling it. The Aztec calendar stone has a lot of impressive details packed into such a small space.

Reverse

The reverse depicts Cuauhtémoc, the last emperor of Tenochtitlan.

The Aztec rounds are iconic and have a great design to them. They are pricier than generic rounds like buffalos, so keep that in mind when you're looking at adding these to your stack. One or two isn't bad, but you likely won't recoup the premium if you buy a whole tube and sell some later.

I recall that the original stone calendar was left forgotten in a warehouse for years before it was rediscovered years later. An amazing piece of ancient art lost due to lost paperwork.

I really love those rounds, I love all the detailing they did. I didn't realize they came in quarter size too, not a bad way to finish off an Amazon card! Awesome buy!
