When a fair fight isn't an option: Thraghun! The master of asymmetric battles - Community engagement challenge: Conclave Favorites! [Eng/Esp]
Hey Splinterfam and hivers! Welcome to my participation in this week's community engagement challenge. This time, we're invited to share our favorite cards from the Conclave set. To be honest, these cards have great potential for Modern, mainly due to the possibilities offered by bloodlines. But each card alone would require a full post to fully understand their capabilities. In this regard, there's one card that's been somewhat underrated and is one of the ones that most catches my attention: Thraghun.

Bienvenido a mi participación al community engagement challenge de esta semana, en esta ocasión somos invitado a compartir cual o cuales son nuestras cartas favoritas de la edición conclave y para ser honestos estas cartas tienen un gran potencial para moderno principalmente por las posibilidades que da el linaje de sangre. Pero por si solas, cada carta necesitaría un post completo para comprender a fondo sus capacidades y en este sentido hay una carta que ha sido un poco subestimada y es una de las que más me llama la atención: Thraghun.
When it comes to bloodlines, there's one that I've loved and has made me celebrate the addition of the bloodline mechanic. It's the orcs. Although I don't have many in my deck, throughout my time in Splinterlands, the few I've purchased and obtained have been strategic pieces that have given me many victories, both in ranked and in brawls. From Grum with the Chaos Legions edition, through Warnorn Shaman in Rebellion and currently in the Frontier format I have acquired Moros Malik, an excellent card with the opportunistic ability, all of which have led me to the conclusion of prioritizing these units in my deck to take advantage of their potential.
Cuando se trata de linajes hay uno que me ha encantado y ha hecho que celebre la incorporación de las mecánicas de linajes de sangre, y se trata de los orcos que aunque no son muchos los que tengo en mi mazo, a lo largo de mi paso en Splinterlands, los pocos que he comprado y obtenido han sido piezas estratégicas que me han dado muchas victorias, tanto en ranked como en las brawls. Desde Grum con la edición Chaos Legions, pasando por Warnorn Shaman en Rebellion y actualmente en el formato frontier he adquirido a Moros Malik una excelente carta con la habilidad oportunista, todas ellas me han hecho llegar a la conclusión de priorizar estas unidades en mi mazo para aprovechar su potencial.

But let's recap: what do I consider so special about this card that I think it's unfair it's gone so unnoticed, beyond its orc lineage? Well, when this card came out in my first Conclave packs, it caught my attention that, despite being a rare card, it had a combo attack! Cards like this were limited to legendary and at least epic rarities, so being rare, it's within reach of new players. Of course, I have cards of this type like War Chang, Drybone Raider, gladiators like Quora, and in Modern, the exceptional Olivia of the Block stands out, which I often use in Brawls battles. If you look closely, most of them are epic or legendary cards.
Pero recapitulemos, ¿Qué es lo que considero de esta carta tan especial que me parece injusto que haya pasado tan desapercibida, más allá de ser linaje orco? Pues cuando esta carta me salió en mis primeros packs de Conclave, me llamó la atención que siendo una carta rara tuviera ataque combinado! Cartas así solo se limitaban rarezas legendarias y como mínimo épicas, por lo que siendo rara esta al alcance de los nuevos jugadores. Por supuesto, tengo cartas de este tipo como War Chang, Drybone Raider, gladiadoras como Quora y en moderno destaca la excepcional Olivia of the Block que suelo usar mucho en las batallas Brawls si te fijas la mayoría de ellas son cartas épicas o legendarias.

Reach & Cripple
If the fact that it's a rare card weren't enough, add in the fact that at level 1, this card has two truly useful abilities: reach, for attacking from second position, and cripple, for dealing with units that can heal themselves, as it reduces the target's maximum health. Of the two abilities, reach is key, as most of my combo attack cards can't execute melee attacks from second position unless favored by a ruleset like super sneak or equal opportunity. These abilities have made me appreciate the capabilities of this great card, and below we'll look at its versatility in combat.
Si el hecho de ser una carta rara fuera poco, se suma el hecho de que a nivel 1 esta carta cuenta con 2 habilidades verdaderamente útiles: reach para atacar desde la segunda posición y cripple para lidiar con esas unidades que pueden sanarse ya que reduce la vida máxima del objetivo. De las 2 habilidades la que es clave es reach ya que la mayoría de mis cartas con ataque combinado no pueden ejecutar ataques melé desde la segunda posición a menos que sea favorecido por una ruleset como super sneak o equal oportunity. Estas habilidades e han hecho apreciar las capacidades de esta genial carta y a continuación veremos la versatilidad de esta carta en combate.
1st Battle/1era Batalla

Our first battle involves the Earthquake rule set, so I decided to use the Dragon Archon to utilize a couple of strategic pieces in my lineup: Night Reaper to deal with potential flying units, and Dragon Egg Forager to finish off the units in the secondary row. In the vanguard I have my 2 favorite orcs: Warborn Shaman and Thraghun to attack from the second position, the great advantage of these 2 units is that they have shields so they can withstand enough damage.
Nuestra primera batalla involucra la ruleset terremoto, así que decidí usar el arconte dragón para utilizar un par de piezas estratégicas en mi alineación: Night Reaper para lidiar con potenciales unidades voladoras y Dragon Egg Forager para rematar las unidades en la fila secundaria. En la vanguardia tengo a mis 2 orcos favoritos: Warborn Shaman y a Thraghun para atacar desde la segunda posición, la gran ventaja de estas 2 unidades es que cuentan con escudos así que pueden resistir suficiente daño.
Rounds 1-3
In this first battle, our greatest difficulty is the immediate vanguard. Ulundin Overseer and Dread Tafarian are a real obstacle in a strategy that is essentially attrition. This is where our lineup shines, especially Thraghun, whose attacks take away Dread Tafarian's maximum health, leaving him vulnerable to earthquakes. In the end, he not only eliminates him but also the last enemy unit, achieving victory. It was a fairly tactical battle, but the one I'll show you next really puts this card's resistance to magic to the test.
En esta primera batalla nuestra mayor dificultad es la vanguardia inmediata, Ulundin Overseer y Dread Tafarian son un verdadero obstáculo en una estrategia que es en esencia de desgaste, aquí es donde brilla nuestra alineación y en especial Thraghun cuyos ataques restan vida máxima a Dread Tafarian dejándolo vulnerable al terremoto, al final termina no sólo eliminándolo sino también a la última unidad enemiga logrando la victoria. Fue una batalla bastante táctica, pero la que te mostraré a continuación si pone a prueba la resistencia de esta carta frente a la magia.

This time, the challenge is twofold. I decided to use an archon associated with the orc bloodline to face an opponent who I was sure would prioritize a lineup entirely of magic attacks. One of the advantages of Rebellion cards is that they carry the same characteristics as Chaos Legion cards: units with enormous amounts of health. That's why I placed Commander Slade in the first position and built a secondary row with magic and ranged units. Of course, Thraghun will accompany Commander in the vanguard.
En esta ocasión el desafío es doble, decidí utilizar un arconte que asocia el linaje de orcos para enfrentar un oponente que estaba seguro que iba a priorizar una alineación enteramente de ataques mágicos. Una de las ventajas que tienen las cartas Rebellion es que arrastran las mismas características de las cartas Chaos Legion: unidades con enorme cantidad de vida. Por eso coloqué a Comander Slade en la primera posición y levante una fila secundaria con unidades mágicas y rango, por supuesto Thraghun estará acompañando a Commander en la vanguardia.
Rounds 1-3
In this battle, I thought things would be complicated by the presence of the Giant Alpine Skink. Its high resistance to ranged and melee attacks makes it a formidable tank. However, the presence of the Warborn and Shock Trooper was enough to subdue it. Our vanguard sustained enough damage for our secondary row units to obliterate the enemy and ultimately achieve victory.
En esta batalla pensé que las cosas se complicarían por la presencia del Giant Alpine Skink, su gran resistencia de ataques rango y melé lo hacen un tanque formidable, pero fue suficiente la presencia de Warborn y Shoock Trooper para aplacarlo, nuestra vanguardia aguanto el daño suficiente para que nuestras unidades en la fila secundaria lograran obliterar al enemigo y así finalmente conseguir la victoria.
With this, I conclude my participation in this Community Engage Challenge, friends. I really enjoyed this week's event, not only because I shared the potential of this wonderful card, but because it made me realize how much fun it is to play Splinterlands, focusing on bloodlines. In fact, I'm thinking about building my rosters around Orc units, starting with the Water Archon I have. The downside is that I'd have to buy Orc units from that infamous and despicable Rebellion edition; it's the only thing stopping me. But perhaps with the new reward cards, new Orc cards will appear to replace them; only time will tell. For now, all I can do is wish you good luck and a long winning streak. Best regards!
Con esto termino mi participación en este community engage challenge amigos, la verdad que me ha gustado el evento de esta semana, no sólo por compartirles el potencial de esta maravillosa carta sino porque me hizo dar cuenta de lo divertido que es jugar splinterlands enfocándose en los linajes. De hecho estoy pensando en hacer mis alineaciones en base a unidades orcos partiendo del arconte de agua que tengo. Lo malo es que tendría que comprar unidad orcos de esa infame y despreciable edición Rebellion, es lo único que me detiene, pero quizás con las nuevas cartas rewards aparezcan nuevas cartas orcos que las sustituyan, solo el tiempo lo dirá. Por lo pronto solo me queda desearles buena suerte y larga racha de victorias. Saludos!
