New Player Guide: Getting Started in Frontier - Community engagement challenge: Teach & triumph! [Eng/Esp]
Greetings, community! Last week, we highlighted the features of the new ranked mode called Fontier. In that post, we focused on highlighting the features of this new ranked mode, which involves Founders cards, in an effort to provide an introduction to the game.

La semana pasada ya habíamos destacado las características de la adición del nuevo modo ranked llamado Fontier, en ese post nos enfocamos en destacar las características de este nuevo modo ranked que involucra cartas Founders, en una estrategia por dar una introducción/aproximación sobre este juego.

Broadly speaking, it's a simplified version of the modern/wild ranked modes, but with the advantage of obtaining Founders cards that aren't tied to the account, meaning they're NFTs we own, which we can trade and sell. This is good for new players because it gives them a first idea of what the term #play2earn means, something that, to be honest, has been distorted after the terrible decisions made during the NFT bubble and subsequently the Rbellion disaster and the initiatives to further flood the market with promotional cards. The game acquired a strong p2w component, and for new players, access to the project was so savagely exploitative that the immediate consequence was that there were simply no new players willing to dedicate their time to this project.
That's why I celebrate this initiative by Frontiers, and in that context, I wanted to create a brief guide on how to start playing in Frontier's ranked game, as it's the logical step for any new player who wants to take their first steps in this project.
En líneas generales es una versión simplificada de los modos ranked moderno/wild, pero con la ventaja de obtener las cartas Founders que no están vinculadas a la cuenta, es decir son NFT de nuestra propiedad, los cuales podemos intercambiar y vender, esto es bueno para los nuevos jugadores pues le da una primera idea de qué diablos significa el término #play2earn algo que siendo honestos se ha desvirtuado luego de las terribles decisiones hechas durante la burbuja NFT y posteriormente el desastre de Rebellion y las iniciativas de inundar todavía más el mercado con cartas Promocionales. El juego adquirió un fuerte componente p2w y para los nuevos jugadores el acceso al proyecto eran tan salvajemente expoliante que la consecuencia inmediata fue que simplemente no había nuevos jugadores que dedicaran su tiempo a este proyecto.
Por eso celebro esta iniciativa de Frontiers y en ese contexto he querido hacer una breve guía de como comenzar a jugar en el ranked de Frontier, ya que es el paso lógico para todo aquel nuevo jugador que quiera dar sus primeros pasos en este proyecto.
Campaign Mode: The necessary step to start Frontier/Modo Campaña: El paso necesario para iniciar Frontier
As mentioned above, Frontiers is a ranked mode and therefore requires summoners and specific cards, in this case Founders. But how do we get these cards? Well, there are two ways to get them. The first, and less desirable, is to buy them on the market, which I don't recommend since these cards can be obtained through a free and fun way: Campaign mode! In my opinion, the campaign is a promising game mode divided into books, and these in turn into chapters. Completing each of these chapters will reward us not only with Founders cards, but also with a certain amount of Glints, the tokens we can purchase in the Glint Store.
Como mencionés anteriormente, Frontiers es un modo ranked y por tanto requiere invocadores y cartas particulares, en este caso Founders. Pero como conseguimos estas cartas? Bueno, existen 2 maneras de conseguirlas, la primera y menos deseable es comprarlas en el mercado, cosa que no recomiendo ya que estas cartas pueden obtenerse por una vía gratuita y además divertida: el modo Campaña! La campaña es a mi juicio un prometedor modo de juego dividido en libros y éstos a su vez en capítulos, terminar cada uno de estos capítulos nos va a recompensar no solo con cartas Founders, sino también con cierta cantidad de Glints que es el token para comprar en la tienda de glints.

This mode, which is in its first chapters, teaches us the main mechanics. We don't play against other players, but against an AI. It's a kind of PVE that allows us to understand the mechanics, summoners, and battle rules. We will obtain the first Founders cards completely free by completing the chapters and thus being able to play in Frontier mode.
Este modo que esta en sus primeros capítulos nos enseña las mecánicas principales, no jugamos contra otros jugadores, sino contra una IA, es una especie de PVE que nos permite entender las mecánicas, invocadores y las reglas de batalla. Las primeras cartas Founders las obtendremos completamente gratis por terminar los capítulos y así poder jugar en el modo Frontier.

In closing, the campaign mode has certain missions, as good as the one involving a boss fight that requires the use of a specific strategy, that have the potential to become raids within the context of a story mode. For me, this is the path Splinterlands should follow.
Ya para cerrar, el modo campaña tiene ciertas misiones, tan buenas como la de enfrentar una Boss fight que requiere el uso de cierta estrategia específica, que tienen el potencial de convertirse en raids dentro del contexto de un modo historia. Es para mi el camino que debe seguir Splinterlands.
Initiating Frontier/Iniciando Frontier
Completing each of the 12 chapters of the Campaign so far will give us these four Splinters: Fire, Water, Earth, Life, and Death. So far, we don't have the Dragon Summoner, but I assume it will be possible to obtain it in later chapters of the campaign. For now, we have these summoners. The notable aspect of these cards is that we can only upgrade them to Silver level, and they will be our tools to summon monsters on the battlefield.
Al realizar cada una de los hasta ahora 12 capítulos de la Campaña nos dará estos 4 Splinters: fuego, agua, tierra, vida y muerte. Hasta ahora no tenemos el invocador dragón pero supongo que será posible obtenerlo en capítulos posteriores de la campaña, por lo pronto contamos con estos invocadores, los aspectos destacables de estas cartas es que solo podremos upgradearlas a nivel plata y serán nuestras herramientas para invocar monstruos en el campo de batalla.
The monsters you see below are all obtained in the campaign. As you can see, we have two common cards, two rare cards, and in some classes, we have two epic cards and a couple of legendary cards. It's enough to get started in Frontiers, so before you begin, my recommendation is to study what each of the abilities some of the cards have do, since depending on the battle rules they can be more or less useful.
Los mostruos que ves abajo son todos conseguidos en la campaña, como puedes ver contamos con 2 cartas comunes, 2 raras y en algunas clases tenemos 2 épicas y un par de legendarias. Es suficiente para comenzar en Frontiers por lo que antes de comenzar, mi recomendación es estudiar que hacen cada una de las habilidades que tienen algunas de las cartas, ya que dependiendo de las reglas de batalla pueden ser más o menos útiles.
When you start ranking up in Frontier, you'll have the opportunity to claim three rewards each day. To do this, you must accumulate five wins for each reward. At the beginning, in Bronze III, you'll only be able to claim one reward card, but as you climb the rankings, you'll be able to obtain many more.
Al comenzar a rankear en Frontier, tendremos la oportunidad diaria de reclamar 3 recompensas para ello debemos acumular cinco victorias por cada recompensa. Al comienzo en bronce III solo podremos reclamar 1 carta de recompensa pero a medida que subamos en el ranking podremos obtener muchas mas.
I haven't had any luck with the chests; only legendary and alchemy potions. With over four years in Splinterlands, I've learned not to expect anything from those chests, but if you're just starting out, you might receive a useful surprise on your journey, such as an epic or legendary card.
No he tenido suerte con los cofres, solo pociones legendarias y de alquimia. Con más de 4 años ya en Splinterlands ya he aprendido a no esperar nada de esos cofres, pero si estas comenzando puede que recibas alguna sorpresa útil en tu viaje como alguna carta que puede ser épica o legendaria.
Well, friends, with this I conclude this brief tutorial on how to start taking your first steps as a new player in Splinterlands. Just as a final note, I'd like to remind you that Founder cards can not only be traded, but also sold! To do so, simply go to Market/Card Sales, where you'll see the cards listed for sale. Y bien amigos, con esto cierro este breve tutorial de como empezar a dar los primeros pasos como nuevos jugadores en Splinterlands, solo como último detalle recordarle que las cartas Founder pueden no solo intercambiarse, sino venderse! Para ello solo deben ingresar en Market/Card sales y alli verán las cartas listadas a la venta, donde podrás poner las cartas que vayas encontrando y que no necesites a la venta.
