My entry in the Shadow Hunters SMASh Contest - Round #392: In the shade of a Chaguaramo tree [Eng/Esp]
Happy start of the week Shadow Hunters community! I welcome you to my participation in the Smash contest round #392, the days are getting short and are mostly cloudy, so I try to take advantage of the moments with more clarity that the mornings have and precisely today I went to the university, that's right friends, the vacation days are already ending and I must put my things in order at the Teaching Unit. But before starting the new semester, I went to the gym early in the morning to exercise, as they had set up a new space for physical therapy and high-performance exercises. So, I paid for the service to try it out, and just as I was arriving, I was greeted by these Chaguaramos (Royal Palms) casting these amazing shadows.
As I've mentioned in previous posts, I'm a professor at UCV, and if there's one thing that characterizes the school where I work, it's the presence of the Chaguaramos. These royal palms are very common along the coasts of Venezuela, and the most striking thing about them is their impressive size. The ones that appear to cast these shadows are relatively small, so I was able to capture the full shadow they cast. Since it was early in the morning, they were slightly tilted, and I was able to take this photo, capturing the three shadows in succession.

After finishing my routine at the gym and before leaving, I took another photo of the Chaguaramos, but this time it was almost noon, and you can notice how the slanted shadows are gone, and all you can see is the shadow of the palm trees, like a crown. These plants need plenty of sun, so this place, which is where the baseball and soccer stadiums are located, most of the time looks like a vacant lot, ideal for their growth.
Well, friends, that's how I ended my Monday preparing for the next semester of teaching. I had many goals to complete this last quarter of the year, and I had new projects to plan for next year. Feliz inicio de semana comunidad de Shadow Hunters! Les doy la bienvenida a mi participación en el concurso Smash round #392, los días se hacer cortos y son la mayor parte del tiempo nublados, por lo que trato de aprovechar los momentos con mayor claridad que tienen las mañanas y precisamente hoy fui a la universidad, así es amigos, los días de vacaciones ya se están terminando y debo ir poniendo en orden mis cosas en la Unidad Docente. Pero antes de comenzar el nuevo semestre fui al gimnasio temprano en el seguro de los profesores para ejercitarme ya que habilitaron un nuevo espacio para fisioterapia y ejercicios de alto rendimiento, así que pagué el servicio para probarlo y justo cuando estaba llegando fui recibido por estos Chaguaramos que desplegaban estas geniales sombras.
Como ya he dicho en publicaciones anteriores, soy profesor de UCV y si hay algo que caracteriza la facultad donde trabajo es la presencia de los Chaguaramos, estas palmas reales son muy comunes en las costas de Venezuela y lo más llamativo es el imponente tamaño que pueden llegar a tener, las que aparecen generando estas sombras son relativamente pequeñas así que pude captar la sombra completa que generan, al ser las primeras horas de la mañana estaban ligeramente inclinadas y pude tomarles esta foto capturando las 3 sombras en serie.

Después de terminar mi rutina en el gimnasio y antes de retirarme, volví a tomarle foto a los Chaguaramos pero en esta ocasión ya eran casi las 12 del medio día y pueden notar como ya las sombras inclinadas no están y solo se ve las sombra de las palmas como si fuera una corona. Estas plantas necesitan recibir mucho sol por lo que este lugar que es donde se encuentran los estadios de beisbol y futbol por lo que la mayor parte del tiempo parece un solar, ideal para que puedan crecer.
Bien amigos, así terminé mi lunes preparándome para el siguiente semestre de docencia, muchas metas que concluir este último trimestre del año y nuevos proyectos que proponerme para el siguiente año y todas esas reflexiones las hice bajo la sombra de este maravilloso chaguaramo!
