My #BeerSaturday Challenge - Week 420: Celebrating the last days of the semester with colleagues, enjoying Polarcitas Beers [Eng/Esp]
Hello again, friends of Beer! Welcome to my latest post dedicated to this great initiative called the #BeerStaurday Challenge. I wasn't planning on spending a beer night on Saturday, but my professors called me that night to get together and celebrate these last days of the semester that was almost over.
Actually, I hadn't planned on going out for drinks. My nephew was almost home, and I really enjoy being with him. But then I remembered that when a semester ends, we immediately go on group vacation and don't return until the end of September. So, I understood my professors' need to get together to celebrate the end of the semester, which also falls during summer, my favorite time of year. So for this week#420 I wanted to share with you more than a beer review, a pleasant moment with colleagues.
The meeting point was a tavern in the Parroquia Candelaria, a central place to go for beer with friends. I was invited to a tavern I hadn't been to before: Tasca Alcabala, but luckily the taxi driver found the place, and it didn't take long for me to find my colleagues, even though they had already started without me! 😆
As soon as I arrived, they served me a good beer. It's important to note that the atmosphere at the tavern was truly family-friendly and very open. One of the reasons I haven't been to taverns recently is that they always play that awful reggaeton music, or worse, vallenato, but in this case, it was Venezuelan music, bolero, and my favorite genre, Caribbean salsa. The service gave us 1 bucket filled with 8 Polarcitas beers.
Polarcita is a classic Polar beer, only it comes in a 222 mL bottle. It was the best they had to offer because, as mentioned in previous posts, the Polar brand has a tight control over beer distribution not only in liquor stores but also in bars and restaurants, making it very difficult to find imported or craft beers in these places. But Polarcita was ultimately the best option since the alternative was Polar Lifgt, a highly diluted version of the classic Polar.

Time passed fairly quickly as we talked about our future plans and the need to introduce new courses for the Biology program, specializing in Cell Biology, and to resume some required courses. We are a very committed group of teachers, and that makes me very happy, since the current circumstances are so difficult financially that having them in my teaching unit is a true miracle. But like me, they feel a deep love for the University, and we toast to that, to remaining strong despite the circumstances with the Cell Biology Teaching Unit.
And so, friends, this is how we spent this #BeerSaturday with a pleasant get-together with colleagues to celebrate successfully completing the lab practice. Teaching work is quite arduous, and in our case, it's just one of our three jobs, so when the holidays arrive, it's a moment of liberation for us, and what better way to celebrate than with some good Polarcitas. Hola de nuevo amigos de Beer! Les doy la bienvenida a mi más reciente post dedicado a esta genial iniciativa llamada #BeerStaurday Challenge, no tenía planificado pasar una noche cervecera el sábado, pero los profesores que están a mi cargo me llamaron en la noche para reunirnos y celebrar estos últimos días del semestre que ya estaba por terminar.
En realidad no tenía planes de salir a tomar, mi sobrino ya estaba por llegar a casa y disfruto mucho estar con él pero luego recordé que cuando termina un semestre salimos inmediatamente de vacaciones colectivas y no volvemos sino hasta a finales de septiembre. Así que entendía la necesidad de mis profesores de reunirnos para celebrar el final del semestre que además es durante el verano, mi temporada favorita del año. Así que para esta semana#420 he querido compartirles más que una reseña de cerveza, un agradable momento con colegas.
El punto de reunión era en una tasca en la Parroquia Candelaria, un lugar céntrico para ir a tomar cervezas con amigos. Me invitaron a una tasca que no había visitado antes: Tasca Alcabala, pero por suerte el taxista encontró el sitio y no demoré tiempo en conseguir a mis colegas, aunque ya habían empezado sin mi! 😆
Apenas llegué me sirvieron una buena cerveza, es importante destacar que el ambiente de la Tasca era verdaderamente familiar y muy abierto. Una de las razones por las que suelo no visitar tascas recientemente es que siempre ponen esa horrible música regetonera o peor vallenato, pero en este caso era música venezolana, bolero y mi genero favorito Salsa caribeña. El servicio nos otorgaba 1 tobo lleno con 8 cervezas Polarcitas.
La polarcita es una clásica cerveza Polar solo que viene en una presentación de 222 mL. Era lo mejor que tenían para ofrecer, porque como ya había dichen publicaciones anteriores la marca Polar tiene un férreo control sobre la distribución de la cerveza no sólo en licorerías, sino tanbién en tascas y restaurantes, haciendo muy difícil ver cervezas importadas o artesanales en estos lugares. Pero en definitiva Polarcita era la mejor opción ya que la alternativa era Polar lifgt que es una versión muy diluída de la clásica Polar.

El tiempo pasó bastante rápido mientras hablábamos de nuestros planes futuros y la necesidad de abrir materias nuevas para la carrera de Biología mención Biología Celular y retomar algunas obligatorias. Somos un grupo de profesores bastante comprometidos y eso me alegra bastante, ya que las circunstancias actuales son tan difíciles económicamente hablando que tenerlos en mi unidad docente es un verdadero milagro. Pero al igual que yo sienten un profundo amor por la Universidad y brindamos por eso, por mantenernos firmes a pesar de las circunstancias con la Unidad Docente de Biología Celular.
Y bien amigos, así pasamos este #BeerSaturday con una grata reunión con colegas para celebrar que logramos llevar a buen término la práctica de laboratorio. El trabajo de docencia es bastante arduo y en nuestro caso es apenas 1 de nuestros 3 trabajos, por lo que al llegar las vacaciones es para nosotros un momento de liberación y que mejor que celebrarlos con unas buenas Polarcitas. Nos vemos en un próximo challenge cervecero amigos. salud!

Pregunto de curiosidad: es la unica cerveza que se fabrica y venden alli en Venezuela?
No, hay muchas más pero el principal problema es de distribución, muchas marcas artesanales que ya de por si cuesta muchísimo fabricarlas, tienen entonces que enfrentarse al proceso de como poner sus productos a la venta, cosa es todavía más costosa. Es la razón por la que Polar es la marca predominante, el resto de las marcas se quedan en su área regional y difícilmente salen más allá de sus estados.
