Capturing the last days of November: Winter in my city and the Institute of Zoology and Tropical Ecology [Eng/Esp].

Greetings, dear community, it's incredible but this month of November has passed at the speed of light! In a few days December will begin and I feel that I didn't take enough advantage of this month, so taking advantage of a meeting with colleagues from the university I decided to take my Sony camera and take some photos of the city of Caracas.

Saludos apreciada comunidad, es increible pero este mes de Noviembre ha transcurrido a la velocidad de la luz! En pocos días comenzará diciembre y siento que no aproveche lo suficiente este mes, así que aprovechando una reunión con colegas de la universidad decidí llevar mi cámara Sony y tomar algunas fotos de la ciudad de Caracas.

I made a first attempt with the Iglesia Corazón de Jesus, this church along with the Santa Capilla in the historic center of the city are the ones that I found most interesting and have a very particular aura, but I will go into more detail about the churches in my city in a separate post, for now I share with you this postcard of a church that is 132 years old.

Hice un primer intento con la Iglesia Corazón de Jesus, esta iglesia junto a la de Santa Capilla en el centro histórico de la ciudad son las que me han parecido más interesante y tienen un aura muy particular, pero entraré en más detalles sobre las iglesias de mi ciudad en un post aparte, por ahora les comparto esta postal de una iglesia que tiene 132 años de antigüedad.

The trip to university is certainly tiring, my friend Foxkoit shows those beautiful photos of the winter season in his lands but here in the tropics it seems that it is always a perpetual summer and I am not lying to you, it seems that we are stuck in the month of July!

El viaje hacia la universidad es ciertamente desgastante, mi amigo Foxkoit muestra esas hermosas fotos de la temporada de invierno en sus tierras pero aquí en el trópico parece que siempre es un verano perpetuo y no les miento parece que estamos atascados en el mes de Julio!

After crossing the congestion that always forms in Plaza Venezuela, until we finally arrive at the Universidad Central and my workplace in the Faculty of Sciences. It turns out that tomorrow I have a workshop on teaching and how to design the competences of our subjects, it is actually a rather boring topic to share here on hive so I will share the photos of the place where we met, at the Institute of Zoology and Tropical Ecology.

Después de atravesar la congestión que siempre se forma en Plaza Venezuela, hasta que finalmente llegamos a la Universidad Central y a mi lugar de trabajo en la Facultad de Ciencias. Resulta que mañana tengo un taller sobre docencia y de como diseñar las competencia de nuestras asignaturas, es en realidad un tema bastante aburrido como compartir aquí en hive así que les compartiré las fotos del lugar donde nos reunimos, en el Instituto de Zoología y Ecología Tropical.

I always enjoy coming here, not only because of the many friends I have here but also because of the beauty of the pond. From what I have been told, it is ecologically a completely closed trophic web, that is to say, there are the small fish that feed on phytiplankton, then there are the larger fish that feed on these and finally these huge fish are preyed upon by a grey heron that occasionally comes down and feeds on them. It is a spectacle that I have never seen, seeing one of these herons dive to hunt these fish.

Siempre disfruto venir aquí, no solo por muchos amigos que tengo aquí sino por lo hermoso de su estanque, por lo que me han contado es ecológicamente una trama trófica que se cierra completamente, es decir están los peces pequeños que se alimentan de fitoplancton, posteriormente están los peces más grandes que se alimentan de de éstos y finalmente estos peces enormes son depredados por una garza real que de vez en cuando baja y se alimenta de ellos. Es un espectáculo que jamás he visto, ver una de estas garzas zambullirse para cazar estos peces

Then there is this mini taxonomic collection of entomology, that is, of insects that have been put up for public display. There is a small sample of each order, coleoptera (beetles), lepidoptera (butterflies), Hemiptera (ants and wasps) and of course the order aranae (spiders) could not be missing. I hope to be able to bring my nephew one day so that he can see these collections.

Luego esta esta mini colección taxonómica de entomología, es decir de insectos que han sido puesto para su exhibición al público hay una pequeña muestra de cada orden, coleóptera (escarabajos), lepidópteros (mariposas), hemiptera (hormigas y avispas) y claro el orden aranae (arañas) no podía faltar. Espero poder traer a mi sobrino algún día para que conozca estas colecciones.
