Abriendo mis primeros packs Escalation: ¡Impresiones y primeras batallas en Modern! [Esp/Eng]
Que tal Splinterfam! Sean bienvenidos nuevamente a otro post dedicado a sumergirnos en el Splinterverso! Finalmente se ha terminado la espera y luego de casi 4 años, tenemos en nuestras manos una nueva mini edición complementaria de cartas, en este caso para la cada vez más destacada edición Conclave Arcana. Quería comenzar a escribir desde el momento de la preventa pero tuve que atender asuntos del "mundo real" en el laboratorio donde trabajo y no tuve tiempo de escribir mis impresiones de este mini set. Así que haremos el recorrido completo, desde que compre los packs en preventa, hasta el momento de abrirlos y compartir con ustedes mis impresiones y testearlas en algunas batallas. Comencemos!
Hey Splinterfam! Welcome back to another post dedicated to diving into the Splinterverse! The wait is finally over, and after almost four years, we have a new supplemental mini-set of cards in our hands, this time for the increasingly popular Conclave Arcana set. I wanted to start writing from the moment of the pre-order, but I had to attend to "real-world" matters at the lab where I work, and I didn't have time to write my impressions of this mini-set. So, we'll cover the whole process, from when I bought the pre-order packs to the moment I opened them and shared my impressions and tested them in some battles. Let's begin!
Ya venía hablando con mis amigos del discord del FOMO que ya estaba generando Escalation, aún así he sido muy cauto a la hora de comprar packs, verán soy de esos jugadores que viven intensamente splinterlands, pero mi triste realidad es que soy un jugador de presupuesto limitado y con ya casi 6 años jugando SPL soy consciente que son necesarios comprar cientos de packs para obtener cartas valiosas, es la razón por la que mis inversiones las hago directamente en el mercado. Pero en esta ocasión no pude evitar formar parte de esta emoción! Conclave Arcana ha sido un paso necesario en la dirección correcta y he querido reafirmar mi confianza en este proyecto comprando un par de estos packs y abrirlos para mejorar mi mazo moderno. Aunque también como nota al margen debo reconocer que la bella @mirlenyjerez me terminó de motivar para dar este paso, ella al igual que yo disfrutamos el diseño de las cartas y esta edición en cuanto al artwork no decepcionó.
I'd already been talking with my friends on Discord about the FOMO Escalation was generating, but I've been very cautious about buying packs. You see, I'm one of those players who lives and breathes Splinterlands, but the sad reality is that I'm a budget player, and after almost six years of playing SPL, I know you need to buy hundreds of packs to get valuable cards. That's why I usually invest directly in the market. But this time, I couldn't resist the excitement! Conclave Arcana has been a necessary step in the right direction, and I wanted to reaffirm my confidence in this project by buying a couple of these packs and opening them to improve my modern deck. As a side note, I have to admit that the lovely @mirlenyjerez really motivated me to take this step. She, like me, enjoys the card designs, and this edition's artwork didn't disappoint.
Compré mis 2 packs Escalation con Sps faltando 18 horas para la venta oficial y apertura de packs, pero justo aquí tuve que atender el trabajo y volví ya cuando faltaban minutos para el final de la preventa. Cuando el tiempo expiró lo primero a lo que accedimos fue al sorteo de cartas promocionales pero con 2 packs obviamente mis posibilidades eran insignificantes. Las posibilidades de algo bueno recaían en esos 2 packs. Por eso compre 2 pociones de media noche para aumentar los chances de una posible lámina negra, porque ya pociones de alquimia y legendaria tenemos miles.
I bought my two Escalation packs with SPs 18 hours before the official sale and pack opening, but I had to go to work and only got back when there were minutes left in the pre-sale. When the time expired, the first thing we accessed was the promotional card giveaway, but with two packs, my chances were obviously negligible. The chances of getting anything good rested on those two packs. That's why I bought two Midnight Potions to increase my chances of getting a Black Blade, because we already have thousands of Alchemy and Legendary Potions.
Luego, casi de manera suicida fui abrir mis packs con todas las pociones preparadas, pero antes de revelártelas, tengo que destacar la animación del sobre y el diseño del reverso de la carta. Creo que es uno de las mayores fortalezas del juego, el diseño y animación son de lujo, aunque siendo justos el diseño de este pack no me encantó mucho, es un tanto simple, la animación me encanto y el diseño del reverso de estas cartas es simplemente hermoso! Mi diseño favorito era el de las cartas Untamed, no sé quizás fue porque fue la edición de cartas con la que comencé a jugar, pero tiene un encanto muy particular. Desde entonces los reversos del resto de cartas que le siguieron no me parecieron tan destacadas hasta ahora, Escalation tiene un diseño más dark, serio, que lo que estas apunto de revelar es un NFT hecho para cambiar el juego.
Then, almost suicidally, I went to open my packs with all the potions prepared, but before revealing them to you, I have to highlight the animation of the booster pack and the design of the card backs. I think it's one of the game's greatest strengths; the design and animation are top-notch. Although, to be fair, I wasn't completely blown away by the design of this pack—it's a bit simple. I loved the animation, though, and the design of the card backs is simply beautiful! My favorite design was the Untamed card set. I don't know, maybe it was because it was the card set I started playing with, but it has a very particular charm. Since then, the backs of the other cards that followed haven't seemed as remarkable to me until now. Escalation has a darker, more serious design, and what you're about to reveal is an NFT made to change the game.
Bueno, de nuestras 10 cartas, 7 eran comunes y 3 raras, bastante decepcionante para ser honestos. Esta es razón por la que en la mini edición anterior solo compre 1 pack para tenerlo simbólicamente y aún lo mantengo. Pero al menos las 10 cartas son todas diferentes y ninguna se repitió, de aquí en adelante lo que haré será comprar las cartas directamente del mercado, pero esperaré un par de días para que los precios alcancen precios estables porque ahora hay mucho fomo por ellas.
Well, of our 10 cards, 7 were common and 3 were rare, quite disappointing to be honest. This is why in the previous mini-set I only bought one pack to have it symbolically, and I still have it. But at least the 10 cards are all different and none are repeated. From now on, I'll buy the cards directly from the market, but I'll wait a couple of days for prices to stabilize because there's a lot of FOMO for them right now.
Aquí las tenemos, lo primero que me llamo la atención fueron estas cartas comunes con una enorme cantidad de mana, esto me hace recordar precisamente al mini set Riftwatchers que también tenía cartas de muy alto mana pero se limitaba a cartas épicas y legendarias en su mayoría como Agor Longtail que tenía 15 de mana es para mi una de las cartas más fuertes de esa edición. Ahora tenemos cartas tan poderosas desde el nivel 1 que parecen cartas legendarias! Solo imagínate Forloen Geomant combinado con Scarred Llama y activada la habilidad Last Stand, una locura!
Here they are! The first thing that caught my eye was these common cards with a huge amount of mana. This reminds me of the Riftwatchers mini-set, which also had very high mana cards, but it was mostly limited to epic and legendary cards, like Agor Longtail, which had 15 mana and is, for me, one of the strongest cards in that set. Now we have cards so powerful from level 1 that they seem like legendary cards! Just imagine Forloen Geomant combined with Scarred Llama and the Last Stand ability activated—it's insane!

Me tienta usar estas cartas en Wild para ver su potencial, pero quiero probarlas en moderno porque es allí donde estoy dedicándome a tiempo completo para finalmente establecerme en la liga de plata y creo que estas cartas van a ser de gran ayuda para consolidar esta meta.
I'm tempted to use these cards in Wild to see their potential, but I want to try them in Modern because that's where I'm focusing full-time to finally establish myself in the Silver League, and I think these cards will be a great help in achieving that goal.
Poniendo a prueba Escalation: Batalla con Doomshield Warden/Testing Escalation: Battle with Doomshield Warden
Bueno ya que Splinterlands no nos dio ninguna carta épica o legendaria, vamos a demostrarles que se equivocan si creen que vamos a resignarnos en batallas ante contrincantes ostentosos! Doomshield Warden es la clave para la siguiente batalla, en publicaciones anteriores comentaba la necesidad de más tanques para sostener la vanguardia y esta carta a pesar de alto coste de mana, tiene todo lo necesario para tanquear y ser la punta de lanza en el ataque. Doomshield Warden además de tener un daño monstruoso y muy buena velocidad, cuenta como Ulundin Overseer con la habilidad flank para ubicar cualquier unidad melé y permitirle atacar desde la segunda posición. En esta batalla de solo unidades melé aprovecharemos esa ventaja para usar Great Bear Druid y completar con unidades de ataque furtivo a la segunda posición.
Well, since Splinterlands didn't give us any epic or legendary cards, let's prove them wrong if they think we're going to resign ourselves to defeating ostentatious opponents! Doomshield Warden is key to the next battle. In previous posts, I mentioned the need for more tanks to sustain the vanguard, and this card, despite its high mana cost, has everything necessary to tank and spearhead the attack. Besides having monstrous damage and very good speed, Doomshield Warden, like Ulundin Overseer, has the flank ability to position any melee unit and allow it to attack from the second position. In this battle of only melee units, we'll take advantage of that to use Great Bear Druid and complement the second position with stealth attack units.
Comenzamos la batalla y siempre que me toca luchar contra tierra casi siempre es seguro que use Endless Ape, esta carta es la esponja de daño perfecta para esta clase, con su habilidad carroñero alcanza grandes cotas de daño pero no fue rival para nuestra nuevo tanque neutro que castiga con 4 daño y para el cuarto round lo noqueó para sellar la victoria. Aquí utilicé la carta de Jackpot Aimee Whisperwind muy efectiva pero hablare con más detalle de estas cartas nuevas en un próximo post.
We started the battle, and whenever I have to duel against Earth, I almost always end up using Endless Ape. This card is the perfect damage sponge for this class; with its Scavenger ability, it reaches high damage levels. But it was no match for our new neutral tank, which punishes with 4 damage, and by the fourth round, it knocked it out to seal the victory. Here, I used the Jackpot card Aimee Whisperwind, which is very effective, but I'll talk about these new cards in more detail in a future post.

En esta ocasión usaremos otra carta común pero de la clase agua: Phlegmost. Genial una nueva mágica para nuestro mazo de agua! Al verlo me recordó a Creeping Ooze una carta clave de la edición beta que te ayudaba a ralentizar al enemigo. Pensé que eran del mismo linaje pero no fue así, Phlegmost es un Divine Construct y Creeping Ooze es una bestia quimérica, así que su relación es solo de apariencia. Nuestro oponente por otro lado piensa barrer con nosotros usando 2 cartas legendarias: Portia Nyr y la salamandra esa que detesto con todas mis fuerzas, pero no me daré por vencido usaré como tanque nuevamente a Doomshield Warden junto al Commander Slade , esta batalla la voy a luchar con estrategia!
This time, we'll use another common card, but from the Water class: Phlegmost. Great new spell for our Water deck! When I saw it, it reminded me of Creeping Ooze, a key card from the beta edition that helped you slow down the enemy. I thought they were from the same lineage, but they weren't. Phlegmost is a Divine Construct, and Creeping Ooze is a chimeric beast, so their relationship is only superficial. Our opponent, on the other hand, plans to wipe us out using two legendary cards: Portia Nyr and that salamander I absolutely detest. But I won't give up! I'll use Doomshield Warden as my tank again, along with Commander Slade. I'm going to fight this battle with strategy!
Comenzamos la batalla con nuestra primera victima a manos del poderoso Doomshield Warden que ya demuestra ser implacable con sus enemigos! El siguiente en caer fue Blue Wyrm un tanque nuevo de Escalation con una enorme cantidad de vida pero no fue rival para el ataque combinado de Warborn Shaman y Mystic Scaleweaver que lo debilitaron para que Phlegmost le diera el golpe de gracia! Ya tenemos 2 bajas, nosotros ninguna y aún no termina el 1er round!
En el segundo round perdimos a nuestro glorioso tanque pero Commander Slade con gran furia y gran venganza levanta su espada destazando a Portya Nyr y reclamando su sangre como peaje! Warborn Shaman se encarga de eliminar a Calamity, y finalmente Arcane Skinwalker es eliminado por Mystic Scaleweaver y Tide Tsunami es despachado por el ataque combinado de Phlegmost y Commander Slade. Victoria contra todo pronóstico!
We began the battle with our first victim at the hands of the mighty Doomshield Warden, who is already proving to be ruthless with his enemies! The next to fall was Blue Wyrm, a new tank from Escalation with a huge amount of health, but he was no match for the combined attack of Warborn Shaman and Mystic Scaleweaver, who weakened him so Phlegmost could deliver the final blow! We already have two casualties, none of us, and the first round isn't even over yet!
In the second round, we lost our glorious tank, but Commander Slade, with great fury and vengeance, raised his sword, slicing through Portia Nyr and claiming her blood as payment! Warborn Shaman takes care of Calamity, and finally Arcane Skinwalker is eliminated by Mystic Scaleweaver, while Tide Tsunami is dispatched by the combined attack of Phlegmost and Commander Slade. Victory against all odds!

Oh amigos! No hay nada más gratificante que lograr una victoria usando la estrategia y comprendiendo los puntos fuertes y débiles de cada carta. En resumen Escalation es una interesante incorporación que viene a cimentar las bases de un nuevo futuro, uno sin la vergüenza que fue Rebellion. Por lo pronto, estaré reseñando estas cartas Escalation exclusivamente para moderno y como puede ayudarnos a superar las primeras ligas del formato moderno. Buena suerte y larga racha de victorias!
Oh friends! There's nothing more rewarding than achieving a victory by using strategy and understanding the strengths and weaknesses of each card. In short, Escalation is an interesting addition that lays the foundation for a new future, one without the shame that was Rebellion. ohh que genial estaba esperando tu post, igual aunque sean cartas normales me parecen muy buenas a mi me gustaron mucho no las he probado todas pero con esas batallas que hiciste me dieron bastante idea esperare otra de tus clases de cartas para seguir ganando

Estimado amigo, tu entusiasmo por este juego es contagioso, y me gusta leer tus posts aunque sus términos técnicos son un misterio total para mí. Lamento que el pack adquirido no haya cubierto en forma positiva tus expectativas. Imagino que cuando hablas de comprar en el mercado es que puedes adquirir cartas determinadas una por vez, mientras con el pack compras varias cartas a ciegas y será cuestión de mucha suerte que te lleguen unas muy buenas más que, por lo que dices, corres hasta el riesgo de que te salga u a carta repetida.
Imagino que en ese caso pones una en venta en el mercado mientras te quedas con otra. Gracias por compartir, te sigo leyendo. Éxito. y muchas bendiciones más.
