A Little Notebook Can Carry a Big Secret World: My Painting Journey

(Edited)

Hello my dear friends, how has your week been? I hope it's been kind to you. Mine has been quite a bit busy. But this Friday felt different. I didn’t want to dive into tasks, nor did I feel like cooking which is usually my favorite hobby. Instead, I want something calm, quiet, and a little bit creative. Let me share with you my secret world in a little notebook that I got from an old friend with some simple tools like 48 water colors and some painting brushes.

To be honest, I don’t know how to paint. I’ve never taken a class, and I can’t even draw a perfect circle. But I love colors. I love how they blend, how they tell stories without words, and how creative I can be. All those reasons drew me in a new hobby: painting.

My first attempt? An apple. How to say, it looked funny, it looked more like a tomato maybe. But I wasn’t too discouraged. I reminded myself that this isn’t about perfection. It’s about expression.

I tried some freestyle sketches from my imagination. They weren’t much better. I felt a little down, but not so disappointed. The curiosity and desire to get an achievement kept me going. And I think I will try to be more serious next days.

I decided to paint something simpler like flowers. I focused more on small details but still feel like I miss something.

Maybe I lack technique and skills, so I decided to watch beginner watercolor tutorials on YouTube. They show you how to choose background colors, blend shades, and plan your layers. I didn’t understand all of it, nor follow them totally. I think I am more about freestyle, cause I don’t have any base in drawing or painting.

This was the first painting I completed after following a video. It wasn’t perfect, but it felt like progress. A cactus in the desert on a beautiful quiet night. I didn't feel bad about this, but I feel like that’s not something from me. How about doing the same technique and painting something I am familiar with? So an idea hit me. I painted the Namek planet. I am a big fan of Dragon Ball and if you know Dragon Ball you will know that. It is Piccolo and Nami’s planet. It is quite simple that only big tall blue tree and blue sky😀 It turned out like this.

Well, not bad, at least it is my imagination. I smiled at my ok creation 😂

I kept going with my new hobby because it was getting more interesting. I can have some creative thoughts. I maybe obsessed with trees, so I painted more trees, but a different one that I thought I want to see. A magical colorful tree that bring health and luck to me, my loved ones, friends, and people see it 🙂

Next, I would like to introduce one of my favorite paintings to you.

I like this one because it makes me feel so comfortable every time I see it. Imagine it is a beautiful sunny day, blue sky, some clouds like ice cream hang on your head and you are on a flower field, just you and the wind blows on your face, take a deep breath and feel how fresh, beautiful the life around you is.

Another art piece that I want to share with you, also the one to end my post for today. I still have a lot more to share.

I started with zero skills. I still don’t consider myself good. But that’s not the point. Painting for me is about feeling comfortable, creative, and knowing that I am creating some more beautiful things. It’s also a form of self-love. If you’ve ever thought about painting or trying anything creative, don’t wait until you’re ready. Just begin, give it a try. You might surprise yourself.

Thanks for reading my post. Hope it inspires you or at least makes you feel calm, happy.
All photos are taken by me with my own paintings. See you in my next post with more beautiful pictures.(at least I think 😂)

Those are some cute arts, with more of this, and if you spend time learning more about art, I am sure it will improve. As I see it you also enjoy what you're doing there. I'm actually jealous, I like art as well, but I don't even do this much. I want, but laziness is always on the way.
