V úterý se mi poštěstilo dostat se do jihočeského města Strakonice jinak než služebně.

On Tuesday I was lucky enough to get to the South Bohemian town of Strakonice for something other than business.
Sue had some official meetings in Strakonice and I drove her there.

Náměstí ve Strakonicích zrovna prodělává rekonstrukci a mnoho zajímavých domů je tedy schováno pod lešením. Nic k focení. A přece. Upoutal mne reliéf na štítě jednoho domu, který nebyl schován za lešením.

The square in Strakonice is currently undergoing reconstruction and many interesting houses are hidden under scaffolding. Nothing to take photos of. And yet. I was caught by a relief on the gable of one house that was not hidden behind scaffolding.

Více jsem nehledal a vypravil se k místnímu zámku a hradu. Nestojí, jako většina hradů, na kopci, ale je situován u soutoku řek Otava a Volyňka.

I didn't look for anything else and went to the local chateau and castle. It doesn't stand on a hill like most castles, but is situated at the confluence of the Otava and Volyňka rivers.

Ve Strakonicích je ještě jedna „významná“ stavba. Stojí na břehu Otavy od roku 1649. Je to pivovar Dudák.

Jejich pivo jsem kdysi dávno ochutnal a nepatřilo ani k běžnému průměru. Už dva roky ale má pivovar jiné majitele. Možná vaří lépe než dříve.
Mám úkol pro příště. Stavit se do podnikové prodejny a koupit nějaký vzorek na ochutnávku :-).

I tasted their beer a long time ago and it wasn't even average. But the brewery has had different owners for two years now. Maybe they brew better than before.
