We Make The Choice!!!

It is said that money corrupts people, but later on, people accepted that money on its own didn’t corrupt anyone. It was the love of money that did. And then, we all know how it was when people came into some money and suddenly changed. Many of them became monsters simply because of their money, and they felt invincible because they could pay their way out of anything.
But then, that’s not the truth at all. The idea is that money changed them, but that’s far from the truth. Money doesn’t change anyone; money only gives you the freedom to be who you really are. It allows you to show your true colors, and it also expands on whatever you might have had prior to the money. If you were kind and generous when broke, with money, you’ll be even more generous and kind with your wealth. If you were wicked and selfish, having more money would make you more wicked and give you more reasons to go to great lengths to protect your wealth.

But today’s topic is not about money, it’s about literacy. However, in this situation, money is just like literacy. Having access to it doesn’t change you into a good or a bad person; it simply expands on who you are. Giving you the required tools to either get better or grow worse.
The more you grow, the more you’ll realize that being literate doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll make smart decisions. People will know that doing something is bad, yet they’ll go ahead to do it, without caring about the effects it would have on them or others. Every day, we see people being nonchalant with their waste disposal; they throw plastic bottles in gutters, blocking the flow. And later on, when a flood hits them, they start blaming the government for the terrible infrastructure.

And speaking of the government, they are the ones leading us in a way that feels like we don’t even have a government at all. We’re just a plane in the sky with no pilot, and the plane is not even on autopilot, it’s just taking us to where we don’t know. All high-ranking individuals in office are literate. They are certified, some of them have doctorates, PhDs, and what have you… Yet, they lead us as if they don’t know what they’re doing.
Should I talk about the lecturers themselves? They’re the ones ruining education with their crooked way of life. They extort money for grades, and they coerce sex for grades. And for those who don’t do this, those who claim to be incorrigible, they choose to be impossible with the grading system. Some lecturers use old marking schemes to grade modern students; they can’t even take the time to update their marking schemes.
There are lecturers who have sworn that no student can have an A in their course, it doesn’t matter if the grade is merited. A lecturer will deliberately reduce your score just to satisfy their own weird feelings. This is how crazy the world is today. So, do you want to tell me that these guys are all illiterates and they don't know what they’re doing?

Being good or bad is a choice, and it has nothing to do with your academic life. Yeah, being literate comes with lots of benefits. It exposes you to so much. After all, I was in school when I was introduced to Hive, and I was also in school when I started writing professionally. School will push you and give you reasons to get better. But then, schools can also enlighten minds on how to take the wrong path to success.
Many people went to school and started fraud, many went to school and joined gangs. Even here on Hive, we all know that plagiarism and using AI-generated texts are frowned upon, but many people still use them. Are they all illiterates? We all know what we’re know what we’re doing. Whether we’re good or bad, it’s all a choice.
And it has nothing to do with what we learned in school.

You know, remembering this back then in school is just so saddening that no matter how hard you try, some lecturers proves your efforts to be fruitless because of their weird claims.
Nice write-up here and it's just like I said too, education or being literate doesn't define us being good people
Yeah... people decide what they want to be. And that can't be blamed on education.
It can't o. It only help with whatever we've build ourselves to be already
That's the true form of illiteracy. how can one throw garbage or waste into the drainage? That's not the way out.
yes, these lecturers are just too crazy, and as a result, they know exactly what they are doing. most of them do that for money. although, its a kind of lesson we all just have to take note of.
Our characters and what we believe in are all by choice.
Yeah... we just have to realize that. Maybe, we'll be more open to treating everyone with an open heart instead.
It's all about the choice. If you want to be a good person you will be a good. Everything depends on what kind of choice we make in different different situations.
Exactly! That's how it is!
