Systems In Place.
Honestly, sometimes, I just let my mind run wild, and I try to think about systems in place to make singular processes work. Things that you’d see as basic and simple to get, but in reality are not that easy. There are so many levels and things that have to be done, so many people who are involved behind the scenes to make it work and to keep the engine running. But you, who only see the finished product, will think it’s all easy.
We see things like this everywhere. We see it online, we see it when we go shopping, we see it in our faves. A lot of people and institutions that we admire make use of systems that will keep the wheels turning. For efficiency and maximum output, the system will make sure that there is always something to deliver.
Over this weekend, I watched the movie F1, which is a movie based on the popular Formula 1 racing world. The movie took us deep into the world of racing, and we got a glimpse of just how such a world operates. We saw that it takes more than just a car to run a race and to win it. There are just so many things involved, things that for someone who isn’t in the field, may have no idea how it’s happening.
Take a race, for instance. The drivers there are simply the faces of their respective brands. While they’re obviously good drivers, that will never be enough to get them to the finish line. They need engineers and also mechanics who are right there in the field. They need people who can change their tires for them within less than 20 seconds. Do you know what it is to change a tyre within less than twenty seconds?
And then, they also need analysts who are watching the race in real time and analyzing the best path forward. These analysts will tell them how other drivers are doing, do serious maths, and let them know the right amount of speed they’d need for certain moments. In a given race, there can be nothing less than 100 people who are solidly behind the driver. His job might be to drive, but the 100 people will be the ones to make sure he gets to the finish line first.
And that’s how it is everywhere else. You see your celebrities, and all you see are people who sing songs and act in movies, but there is a whole team in the background making things work for them. There are stylists, publicists, social media managers, lawyers, agents… and the list goes on.
I just find it fascinating that the number of minds that have to come together to make certain things work. It’s never easy, and it requires a great deal of coordination. And yeah, it can also be expensive. In the movie industry, it’s not just the actors that make a film, and it’s not just the directors and producers. There are also drivers, chefs, cleaners… people who without them, shooting will most likely be a nightmare.
So, making things work is not easy. It’s always good to have people on your side who see things as you do and are willing to pursue the same values and goals as you. In the end, it doesn’t really matter if something takes 5 people or 500; what matters the most is how good it is. That’s what’s more important.

Well first of all I must emphasize that the F1 movie was great in my opinion. I really enjoyed it. I do watch formula 1 from before so I understood a lot of the concepts right away in the movie. But as you said, yes formula 1 requires actually a lot of people and the team who contribute towards making the car the faster and more safer for the driver's drive. Ultimately making them the champion team. I guess the drivers championship and the constructors championship before 101 chose this quite well. One award for the best driver who assembly drives the car the best. And the other best constructors award goes to the team which made the best car under the tight regulations from the FIA. So there's a recognition for everyone.
