Social Media 101

Teaching social media in schools will be nothing but a fabulous idea. We all know just how much benefits come with being active on social media. It was once designed to connect people over a long distance, but that quickly changed as time went on and people discovered just how many things that can be achieved with the various platforms.
Besides having the power to transform people’s lives for the better, it can also destroy them in the blink of an eye. If one is not careful, the kind of content you make or consume could very well define what the rest of your real life could be. To make it on social media requires being intentional, but then, to also make sure that you don’t get touched by all the rubbish that’s present there also requires being intentional. It’s not easy at all.

Teaching it in schools, right from primary school will be great because it will introduce the pupils to what it is even before many of them would have free access to it. Kids these days are really smart when it comes to social media. A child of two might not be able to dial his mother’s number on the phone, but they’ll be able to scroll and click on the YouTube Icon so they can watch their favorite shows. I’ve even seen a child of four who was able to master his mother’s complex security pattern just so he could watch videos on YouTube.
And these days when many parents prefer to give their phones to their kids so that they will be distracted instead of disturbing them, kids end up spending more time with phones at that age than during our time. So, from a young age, children need to learn everything that can be taught on social media.

After all, during my time we were taught Moral Instructions in school. Teaching us morals and whatnot, and in the western world, schools are teaching children about sexual identities. Not being comfortable in one’s biology and choosing to identify as something not assigned at birth. If all this can be taught to children, why shouldn’t social media?
They can start it small, with the beauty of social media and how it’s making lives easier for us, connecting us with friends and loved ones, and giving us friends who are overseas. However, as the child grows older both in age and academics, they delve deeper into the dangers of social media, warning of all the pitfalls and showing just how to handle these negatives. We’ll also explore the means to make money off the site and how to do all these ethically, so that people won’t be willing to do anything just for likes and the views.

I’m sure that if the curriculum is kept to, they will no doubt help the kids. All these cyber bullying and the unnecessary pressure that comes with it will be taken care of because by then, everyone will know exactly how to deal with such things.
In my opinion, it would be a great idea. Honestly, I don’t know why it hasn’t even been considered. I guess it just is what it is. Hopefully, we’ll see a more comfortable future where our kids won’t have to be so scared or pressured online. I look forward to such a future.

Well kids these days don't need a school curriculum to learn how to use social media if you ask me. . They just need good examples if you ask me.
It has just become our way of socializing and since they are social beings, they will also use it. But if they see how we are using, I guess there lies the change.
Well... that's a good idea, but you can't always guarantee what they'll see. Even if those around them do it right, what about the entities they come across online? A god background will go a long way.
The real fact is that when it is incorporated into the curriculum, there will be a streamlining process that would lead to social media. This, I guess, would not sound so well. In another way, just like we have quark doctors and other aspects of life, social media would not be a face-off. There would be a lot of quark social media accounts, no matter the condition. the way they make money would be streamlined as well.
That's right, sir. Maybe if they are introduced to it from an early age, they will understand and know better what is good and bad as they get older. I have seen children who are not yet in school age being taught about social media for entertainment by their parents.
Yeah... it's a good distracting tool for the children, but that also exposes them too early to the dangers.

Indeed. Everyone are using social media even a kid also have account in social media. We can't restrict them to use it, so it's better to give them the knowledge about it and maximize the best use of social media. At least there is nothing to loss.
Having good knowledge about it and how to behave when online will indeed goa long way.
