The world is filled with inventions that have either been repurposed or only used for the exact thing they were needed for. It can be quite sad when people look at certain ordinary things, and all they can think about is how to use them to hurt someone else. It’s as if they’re always looking up new ways to be wicked, and that just speaks volumes about their characters.

Sadly, this is something that covers several niches and fields. It’s not something that is unique to one way of life. People see the potential something has, and then they proceed to poison it with their evil thoughts and actions. Regardless of how it will forever taint that same thing. It’s just as if people take great pleasure in ruining good things for the rest of us.

A good example of this is social media. I’m sure that when it was created, it was solely to bring people together. Hell, I’m even more certain that it was never their plan to get monetized eventually. But with that access to the global populace, people went crazy! From fraud to bullying to trolling, these are just some of the things that have hurt so many people, all in the name of social media. And then, another problem with social media is that while everyone has a right to free speech, getting monetized has pushed a lot of them to put up content that doesn’t belong there.

From straight-up nudes to brain-rot content that somehow skips the algorithm, yet your thoughtful posts will be taken down because you violated their policies. It’s also a cesspool of hate and all forms of bigotry that’s always in full-fledged emergence. At this point, nothing can stop these guys.

There are so many examples I can give you. Drinks are created to make us happy or to refresh our day, but as customers, we have to deal with substandard products. Companies use inferior materials to produce and lower the quality, so they can make more money. And meanwhile, outside in the slums, there are people making counterfeits of the same drink. You don’t know which one is real, but if the sugar in the real one doesn’t kill you, the poison in the fake one will most likely do the job.

When going through other posts in this topic, I noticed that someone mentioned guns as part of the things that were repurposed. And boy, I have to disagree. Guns and weapons are only doing the very things they were invented for. Before guns came, there were swords, spears, and arrows. They could do the job of killing perfectly. But no, people wanted more efficient, faster, and more superior killing implements. That’s for a fact.

I find it hard to believe that guns were invented with defense in mind, but strictly for attack. But then, with such a weapon out there, people now needed more guns to defend against the other guns. It’s just like saying that atomic bombs and nuclear warheads are created for defense. No, they’re all for attack. And the only thing keeping one country from sending its bombs into another country is the idea of retaliation.

So, weapons are doing exactly what they were invented for, but everything else? It’s just sad how easily certain things can be repurposed into killing machines. Like a favorite, kitchen knives were made for cooking and built for the kitchen, but they’ve been used as murder weapons countless times. A machete was made for farm work, but it’s now a symbol of violence. Hell, if you’re seen in public with a machete or a kitchen knife, you must have a good explanation for it, or you’ll be taken into custody.

That’s how bad things have gotten. You can't blame the invention, just blame the people who repurpose it.
