Omo… we were not taught money in school at all. The closest I ever came to learning anything about money was in Economics and even Maths, and that was only in select topics. But in general, the subject of money is frowned upon in the secondary school space. As a matter of fact, it was discouraged, and if you showed too much interest in it, you would be warned off. You'll be asked what you need the money for. When you’re older, you’ll be able to make as much as you need.

But therein lies the problem, because you won’t start early enough to learn about money, you only start when you’re ready to start making money. And for many, you’ll only know enough to make. But you won’t know anything about investing, spending wisely, or doing things that will attract even more money to you. That’s why, regardless of how much people make, they’re always broke.

So, should crypto and forex be taught to pupils in schools? I believe this is a very much-needed upgrade. Maybe for the primary school children, they focus on teaching them about investments and the need for saving up money. Because if people are more knowledgeable about money from a young age, it will affect how they see it and the things they choose to do with it. That’s how vital it can be.

So then, if the basic ideas of investments and savings are taught in the primary school, junior secondary will teach them about businesses and how investments work in real life. Like, how you can invest money in yourself or in someone else with the hope of gaining some profit. This is very important in today’s world because people are making so much money. We have kids who are now influencers on social media. Yeah, they have people who are managing their accounts, but with a little knowledge of money, they’d have a better grasp of what is really going on and how they can put all that money to use.

And now, in senior secondary school, they teach the major things like forex and crypto trading. They won’t have to cover every aspect of it, and they won’t have to go in-depth into candles and charts. Just teach the basic parts of it, enough to provide the required information so that those who are interested will know what they’re heading into before they step in. That’s how it should be.

Such things should be taught, it’s very important. After all, I was also taught a number of things that I ended up not using during the course of my life. The one and only time I ever killed and dissected a rabbit was when I was in SS3. I’ve never found a need for that skill again. Also in SS3, I worked with some chemicals (during class practical and also in my WAEC), and to date, I’ve not used that piece of information.

Am I saying those things are useless? No. I’m just saying that if they can be taught to every student regardless of their academic leaning, crypto and forex can also be taught to every student regardless of their leaning. After all, what’s the worst that could happen? They could only end up not needing it eventually. But then, they’d know that they have that information stored somewhere.

So yeah, this is information that is needed early in life. And the more seriously we take this, the better it will be for us.

Just like you said they could end up not going into cryptocurrency and forex but gaining the knowledge is all that matters

Cryptocurrency can be risky but we can reduce the risk if we have knowledge and at least our education system can try to give us basic concept about cryptocurrency which may be good enough for us for the current time.
