It's All Obsolete...
It’s amazing how technology has so taken over many things that today, we’ve all subconsciously left them all behind. Even though we didn’t really mean to. When you think about it, a lot of the things that used to be a staple in our lives, the things that we use on a daily basis, are no longer so important because we’ve found easier ways to access them.
As a result, these things have become obsolete. We’re either not making use of them anymore, or we’re simply using them for something else that is besides their original purpose. That is the reality of the world we live in today, where the advancement of technology will cause other things to become obsolete.
One such example is the use of physical calendars. This morning, I noticed that our calendar was still open the page had the Month of January. And this was off because we’re just rounding up March and the calendar should reflect it. Yet, we haven’t since. The only reason it was opened in January was because that was when it was gotten and hung.
In reality, no one uses it. The calendar hangs on the wall all day, but I can’t even remember a time when I had to look at the umbrella to check a date. I have my phone that can do that for me. The calendar on my phone can save dates and set alarms for me so that even if I forget, it will remind me. Why the hell would I want to rely on physical calendars?
Another example is watches and clocks. Clocks are basically obsolete, I don’t even remember going to a house and seeing a functioning clock. They’re always dead because no one bothers to change the batteries. The only place to see a good clock these days is in the market where they’re being sold, or in professional settings. Offices still make use of clocks, even to this day.
Nobody has the time for clocks anymore, not when one has the time on their phone. Note that your phone’s time is gotten automatically based on your geographical location, your clock can’t do that. Hell, even TV these days tells the time, and refrigerators tell the time. Just about every device has a means of telling the time.
And as for watches, they’re not made strictly for telling time anymore. They’re kind of like phones. The original reason phones were invented was to communicate, but over time, their use has expanded and today, communication is only a fraction of what the phone can do. The same can be said for watches, now people don’t really buy watches because they need them to tell the time, some watches are bought simply for the aesthetics, and some are bought for the status that wearing them provides. And with smartwatches, they’re bought for everything but their ability to tell the time.
There are so many things that have gone obsolete due to advancements in technology. This is a movement that can’t be derailed. It has started and there is no stopping it. And as we move on, life surely goes on. More advancements will emerge, and we’ll have to adapt, whether we like it or not. If you’re not ready for the innovation that is coming our way, then you’re in for being left behind.
Because whether we’re ready or not, change is coming.
Seriously, the rapid rate at which things become obsolete these days is worrying. I'd rather have a wristband on that a wristwatch. There was a time I couldn't even go out to buy things without wearing a watch.😂
As for printed calendars, useless. They only occupy space on the walls. Can't even remember the last time I've seen one.
Hehe... for us, the reason we bought the calendar was to support a program. Sale of the calendar was to raise funds. Most of our calendars for the past few years have been gotten this way.
All these church program calendars with pastors face all over it.😂
