It's All About Passion!!!
It’s a new week and already there are so many things that are slated to happen. The Good Friday event is coming up in about two weeks (I think) and I once made a post talking about my interest in taking part in this year’s Passion Of Christ dramatization. The last time I took part in it, I was a key player in the drama, acting a major role and also directing the entire thing.
That was a few years ago, and in this period, it’s all in someone else’s hands. I wanted to take part in this year’s dramatization, seeing how it had been quite a while for me. However, work just refused to let me breathe. The very day there was a casting call, I found out that I couldn’t go for it because I had an impromptu meeting to attend. And then, the rehearsals were set on Saturday evenings, and Saturdays are pretty much my busiest days in the week.
So, that is how it has been for me so far. It’s always been on my mind, but I’ve not been able to do much. The first time I went for a real rehearsal with them was during the just concluded public holidays for Sallah. It was a public holiday for everyone and I managed to get some time on my hands. That was how I was able to attend. However, by then, it was too late as all the characters were spoken for and there were no vacant slots left to be filled.
At the moment, the only spaces that still needed to be filled were soldiers and members of the crowd. These roles are generic because anyone can do it, and they require only the barest minimum of acting. Kinda like extras in movies.
Anyway, since it’s a church program and I’m looking to be helpful in any way possible that I can, I opted to act as a soldier. And the more I think about it, the more it seems like the right choice because being a soldier, I won’t have to turn up for every rehearsal, something my work schedule won’t even permit me to. After all, my job on that day would be to shove the actor playing Jesus around and whip him while he carries the “cross”. There’s not a lot of work involved in looking and acting mean.
The most important thing is that I’m present on that day, which is what is going to happen. It’s a day that reminds us all of the struggles and the pain that Jesus Christ had to go through just for the sake of redemption. We go through all 14 stations of the cross, going through it all with him. That’s why this dramatization is very important. And I want a piece of it, even if it’s a tiny role.
So, however it goes, I’m looking forward to everything that would be coming off it. It’s already looking to be an eventful program and I’m sure that with time, it will all fall into place. And the Easter season that would follow suit would be just as eventful.

Acting is not so easy and getting nervous is natural at least for me even if the role is for a little moment. I wish you success and hope that it will be an eventful program.
