I'm Tired Of My School!
It’s been a crazy couple of weeks down here in my school, and honestly, I’m tired. It’s been an insane semester, really tough, and causing me to make some hard choices. But it’s over, or at the very least, it's been over for the past few weeks now. However, for us to have the exams that come at the end of the semester, that is where the trouble is.
Every time the due date of the exam draws close, the school will drop a memo telling us that it has been postponed. We were supposed to begin last week Wednesday, but it was postponed till this coming Tuesday. And now, another memo has dropped postponing the exams yet again till the 20th of this month. It’s tiring.
And the reason for all this? Money!
They are employing this insane protocol of forcing students to pay their school fees even before the first semester is over, and it’s unbearable for many of us considering just how hard the state of the economy is. The school fees are something that you would never avoid, no matter how long you leave it, you’ll definitely pay it. Why then do they keep pressuring students to pay?
One tactic they employed to motivate people is the idea of CBT (Computer Based Test) and making use of school fees receipt to gain access to the portal where you’ll take the exam. I’ve also noticed that a lot of schools also employ this tactic.
Honestly, this is one of the reasons I’ve never really understood why these people ever went on strike. If the government was in charge of running the school, why then did the school fees increase every year? Was the school fee required to pay the staff? Maintain the school property? I don’t really know the inner workings of this particular bureaucracy, and at the moment, I don’t even care.
Now, the reason the authorities in my school are giving for the postponement is to give us time to pay the school fees. Sometimes when you think about it, it’s as if they are just looking to gather as much money as they possibly can before they leave. Because of the CBT, students are pressured to pay. They know that the CBT comes with a certain percentage of the total marks and they might end up failing the course if they miss the test.
Right now, people are running helter-skelter, losing their minds as they try to figure out how to raise their school fees within the next one week given by the school management. This is not small money, many of them have only just finished buying textbooks and spending money on other things as well. Yet, the school keeps on pressing our necks and driving us to the banks. All they care about is just the money.
They don’t care if they drive us to depression and suicide in the process, and that’s insane. They will do what they want eventually, what can we do?
Eventually, the only choice we would have would be to kowtow to their demands, because no one wants to fail or be made a scapegoat. We all came to this school to learn and pass in colors as fly as possible. So, even if the school keeps on bringing obstacles to that, we’ll keep circumventing them until we get to where we’re going!
After all, I’ll be done soon. I just have to endure for a little while.

It is too bad these people only worry about their pockets, the students financial life, their mental health and the state of the country economy doesn't bother them at all.
They just want to make themselves richer and if we think about these things truly, where are these money going? Why do lecturers have to go on strike? Why do school fee increase all the time?
Nigeria education foundation has been terrible from the onset and I guess the aftermath is what we are seeing today.
These are questions that we'll never get the answer until we get into the system itself. It's sad really how much money has cost a lot of us with regard to these things, but it's now a part of life.
Thank you for reading.
They should have made the law earlier so that they will not delay you students when it is time for you all to write exam. Sorry about that
Yeah... but these guys just do what they want. Anyway, we'll be fine. I'm sure of that.
It's very bad happening to you. In this process, you guys are losing your time and we all know that how important it is. So, depression is normal but I would prefer to say you stay positive because there is nothing you can do or nothing is in your hand. I can understand you because I am facing the situation at the current time.
Of course, I'll see the good in everything and use it to my advantage. No matter what the school says. It's just annoying, that's all.
Thank you.
