Coding Made Easier...
Coding is taking the world by storm, and as it stands, we can’t seem to get enough of it. Everything now is running on tech, and if you’re not into coding, then you’re taking a backseat in what is turning out to be a techy future.
Just about every little thing now can be solved with a little bit of coding. With a computer and software, you can design a program that will run even the most mundane tasks for you. Things that would have taken hours and days to accomplish, a simple code will get it done for you in minutes. It’s fast, and while not entirely reliable, it’s easier. And even better, it’s cheaper!
And so, that’s every employer of labor is going tech. Everyone now is using tech to run their business, even for basic things, such as controlling their fans and AC. This is no longer the period when tech was mainly about building websites and maintaining them. It’s about everything else that tech is and everything it can be.
This reminds me of my childhood. In primary school, computer studies was a compulsory subject. They taught us the basics, how to get familiar with the keys. Typing asdf;lkj multiple times, over and over. We were taught cold and warm booting. However, around that period, I already knew my way around a computer. For as long as I can remember, we’ve always had a computer in our home, even when we didn’t have a TV. There was always a computer. And in saw Mavis Beacon as a fun game, which helped me a lot with my typing skills.
The importance of computers was seen back then, and it reflected in the topics they taught us. However, this period is very different. Students won’t be taught how to type because that’s basic now. Computers are no longer about punching random keys just to get familiar with their placement. It’s about punching in strings that you know will give you a desirable outcome. Now, is this something that kids should be exposed to early on? Hell yeah!
Kids already know how to use YouTube and Facebook to watch their videos, so it’s not bad if they know how such sites are made, is it? They might not go into complex details, but they would just brush the surface. Just like how Calculus isn’t taught in Primary schools, even though it’s still a branch of Maths. There are ways to handle this and form a scheme of work that will be really helpful.
Omo… It’s not easy. However, I believe that if kids are exposed to it early enough, they will find it easier to handle even with minimal knowledge. They won’t need to be in the field, but they would know how to handle basic coding exercises. These days, it’s not difficult to see people who studied medicine and accounting being able to fix light bulbs and change switches, and sockets. It’s not hard at all, and it’s a very basic skill, one that you can’t even call an engineer for. However, there are people who still don’t know how to change their own light bulb. Many people know how to do it now because we were all taught it back in school, or we watched it happen often enough for us to know how it’s done.
So yeah, early exposure to coding is paramount. It would be helpful in the creation of the next generation of tech bros and sis…
I don’t think there is a knowledge that is waste because we all don’t know which knowledge will end up putting food on our tables in the future and that is why someone studied Yoruba in school and later become accountant in the bank
Such is life o
As in ehn... any little thing can end up being helpful in future. Such is life.

I have an interest in coding, and I also know that there are many benefits of introducing coding at an early stage in the education system. But I am sure many people are not interested in coding. So, I just feel there should be more options available for them.
Yeah... the older the kids get, the more capable they'll be about making personal choices.
