Is Porn Normal?

This is a very controversial topic. It may even be off putting for some based on their values and beliefs, but I had a very striking conversation today with a funny person in the Bro discord server and had questions for google after that. Let me begin by asking you,

What do you think about porn?

Is porn normal?

I have had series of conversations with different people and have received different kind of answers. While some believe it is just normal, others have strong opinions against it. One person was telling me, “I think porn is normal. We indulge in sex often. So I don’t see the problem”. I just raised a finger, looked him in the eye and asked, “Would you watch porn with your kid?” His eyes went the size of saucers and the next thing was, “fuck no. I’m an arsehole not a full blown retard”. I smiled and said, “There you have your answer”.

Contrary to what all these “freedom fighters” are trying to shove down our throats, not everything should or will be accepted. I do not have a problem with anyone watching porn; I mean it is your life. What I do not agree with is how people go around abusing these materials and wreaking havoc on unsuspecting individuals. I think I read somewhere that a child wanted to end his life because his mom had an Only Fans account with a huge grossing. That is just one of the damages we face with these kind of materials.

Dopamine, Porn & Sex

Now, before you go casting stones, I was once a young lad and I had quite the appetite but I was shy. You can imagine what an introverted male does with his spare time other than drinking heavily. However, I grew to understand that porn does not just have physical consequences but mental drawbacks as well.

We all know with the case of dopamine, a hormone related with pleasure and reward. Whenever we get some form of pleasure, there is the release of dopamine. We get a hit of dopamine throughout our lifetime and some more than the others do. There is a theory when it comes to porn, dopamine and sex.

The theory goes thus, when a person indulges in sex and they are satisfied with it, there is a rush of dopamine. It is like a drug. Now, since this is the case, you can be addicted to this drug or the rush of it. You keep getting it frequently and like what a drug does, you are hooked, a fiend and you lose sight of what sex really is – a language of love. When it comes to porn, there is the theory that the more you indulge in porn and acquire pleasure by yourself; you may not be able to enjoy it (sex) with another person. There is also the theory that decline in sexual appetite among the Gen Z has to do with the surge in porn. All these are theories of course, but I think there are truths to them.

Conclusion

For example, porn does do harm on the mind, the mentality, how you see people. A young man who constantly watches porn may need to undergo the process of withdrawal to really love and appreciate women. These adult films do not communicate any atom of healthy positive relationships. It does quite the opposite. There are other theories about porn, the degree of damage it does to the mind, but that is a very vast topic, and I may as well just write another book…lol.

In all honesty, porn can never be normal to me. I am not judging anyone, just expressing my opinions as to what I think regarding a particular subject. I do not think that anything with no health benefits can ever be normal or even good.

Personally I have no interest in it, never have either.
I've seen it destroy people sadly. A belief I commonly hear is that only men suffer from it, erectile dysfunction being a common side effect in heavy porn viewers.

But I know plenty of women who become disillusioned by porn and think that it is how they should look, act and perform. Even struggling to find a partner because they now believe that any potential partner must live up to their dream stars.

It's a strange one really but I learnt last week the average age for viewing porn is now between 9 and 10 years old for boys.

To me that's mental and quite scary. It is so readily accessible now that I think it's just a part of life now.

The internet has its benefits of course, but when not used reasonably it can destroy young lives too easily

Wowzers! 9 and 10?! That’s awful! And these young people will grow up with a broke mentality.

Yeah. I think people overlook that porn has its effect on women too. No one wants to believe that women watch porn either 😂 how cool is that?

Porn can never be a good thing. Ever
