Companion (2025)

Once again, I went on the prowl for something exciting and now I think that I have go re-visit what genre that really is because, as good as this was, it was so tame. Or has my tolerance levels gone up?
Companion is an American sci-fi/thriller movie that unfolds during what was supposed to be a friendly getaway. Iris (Sophie Thatcher) would soon discover that all she’s known about her companion was a lie. What develops from there is a chain of events following the death of a Russian billionaire.
For this movie, I feel maybe I would have enjoyed it more if I had listened to my heart and skipped watching the trailer. However, as much as I needed to be surprised, I kind of learned a lesson from watching Superdeep. Although, you can’t tell for sure if a movie is going to be good from the trailer. Or can you? I’ll find out.
The trailer already confirmed that this was going to be a kill or be killed situation much like Ready or Not, what I did not expect was the twist that came with it. I liked the development a lot. What I didn’t see coming was Josh (Jack Squid). I expected something but I never suspected that the sweet-innocent-looking-Josh would turn into what he did. I expected it from Kat (Megan Suri), but oh boy, things just went so wrong it felt right.

If I would describe this movie, it had the perfect balance. The bloody scenes were mild and fun to watch, the actors delivered and the dialogue had enough juice to keep you going. From one to the next, there was a perfect flow. For something spicy (I say spicy in the kill sense of the word), it was good. Nothing was rushed or forced.
Did I have a character that I liked the most? Well, I obviously liked the robot. However, it was the character Josh that made an impression on me. Iris’ description of him was blunt and unfortunately, I couldn’t help but look at the scenes through the eyes of reality. You know, there are people who are like that.
Would I recommend this movie? Of course. It’s catchy, won’t bring you to the edge of your seat (at least not for me) but you won’t get bored. There are some bouts of comical lines too — just a tiny bit but it was enough. All about balance.
I rate it a 6.5/10. It was definitely good, won’t deny that, and I have nothing bad to say about it just that it felt like every other movie I have seen with robots and sinister plans.

Hehe! I've seen this movie.
I've forgotten some parts of the story, but all I can remember is that it was very interesting. I loved Iris since all others were against her. I was excited she won at the end.
Your review is just as interesting as the story, well done.
Good morning to you!
