Building out The Man Cave for the future

It may come as no shock to anyone that knows me to talk to in my little hive-sphere that I think Hive is going to the moon eventually. Perhaps not now, but eventually we will see the rings of Saturn and beyond. Mainly because we are so far ahead of anyone else close when it comes to social rewards and rewarding our community for interaction. We have made tremendous progress, and as a community overcome huge obstacles in the process.

What hive seems to miss, or moreover lack, is people coming here just for the community. Just to blog. Just to make a video for the enjoyment of making one. We lack the raw creative talent that migrates to a platform just for the sake of being there.

You can argue this point with me until you are blue in the face but the fact of the matter is there are social platforms out there that exist just for other people's enjoyment for over a decade, and they aren't going away anytime soon. I have owned my account on Facebook since 2007 and have never been paid once for using it. And yet I still use it to connect with friends and family.

I'm not saying that we'll always be in this position though, I think eventually there will come a tipping point when enough creatives come to hive that it will create a snowball effect which will inevitably see us with a lot of raging creatives ready to start doing stuff.

So what do we do?

Well this is what we're focusing on in the Man Cave right now. We're trying to get interested individuals up for creating their own slice of hive. You have a good opportunity right now to come in to the cave and to create - whatever that may be.

My vision for us in the future is a thriving hub of information. I like that the focus is on me at the moment and what I do - but I'd like to push that back down to you guys eventually. Yes, this will take time, and yes I expect this will take years to do rather than days or weeks. That being said lots of time I do have.

And we've made a start. If you look at our Friday streamer @sharmanhd he's doing his own things for himself in the cave as we speak. I'll not pretend that I understand it, but it's to do with football and it looks fun. The only reason I'm not hugely up to date with it is because I'm not much into football like I used to be.

But it doesn't stop there. The shining light on this idea, or, the guy who made me realise that it could be done was JBOSS of @psyberx when he brought his game to us and it's happily working in the background with everyone playing.

So I thought YES, it works. So I'll be looking at building that out in the future.
