Beware of distractions

So this girl, Hailey Welch, is really quite the lady isn't she? Lovely, cute, the right sort of woman for any man; I mean I bet for quite a few men she's a dream lady - refusing to do only fans at her level of status, and apparently traditional with a mum and dad still in the home.

Cute, isn't she? Yeah, she is.

But she's a distraction.

This is what the Romans did when they were plundering the treasury when Rome was falling. They let the peasants have gladiator games and ceremonies every day whilst they were raiding the coffers and bleeding Rome dry because they knew it was over.

Of course I'm not saying our era is over, far from it. I think perhaps our peak was in the 90's and now we're on a slow decline, and perhaps we may have a few hundred years left before the next civilization rises up out of the ashes and takes over the world. Be that on Earth or maybe even a different planet by then at the rate Elon is sending rockets to the stars.

But Hailey, dear old Hailey, lovely and gullible and naive that she probably is, is our next big distraction in a long list of them. They have to keep us from reading books and glancing up every now and again to see how rotten to the core the world is turning.

How else would she stay relevant? It's like another Kim Kardashian. She flashed her gash at the world and achieved uber celebrity-like status, and no-one ever questioned how she retained it. I mean if you look at anyone else that goes ultra viral they usually fizzle out in a few days unless they have a trick or two up their sleeve.

The point I'm trying to make is that achieving a social status is quite easy in this world. You can perhaps go ultra viral if you say some insane and loopylike takes on the world, but none of them ever stay remotely relevant.. why does she?

Well, the world is going to hell in a handbag and they need a distraction for the peasants so they don't end up at the gate of the rich.

Maintaining status is actually incredibly hard. Even BRO for example, staying relevant on this blockchain means that I have to keep networking with the right people, keep introducing new stuff that is relevant to the rapidly changing ecosystem, and keep posting and updating.

Of course I am of two minds here. On one hand I think it's nice that a sweet young girl gets to kick it with the big guns and with the way she's going she'll probably stay relevant for a long long time, but on the other breath I would say what was her contribution that led her to this amount of fame? And it wasn't much at all.

So beware of the distractions. The more things we see like this (I guess one or two is okay) the more of a hellish dive we are taking!
