Are We There Yet?

Are we there yet is my child's favourite saying when we go off to visit my sister-in-law in London. It's a good 3-4 hour drive from here, and it's even longer if we include lunch stops on the way. My son, bless him, is king of asking the famed question, "are we there yet?"

It sort of feels like this has been my crypto life for the last year and a bit.

"Are we there yet?"

Waiting for the emergence of crypto spring. A glimmer of hope in a barren wasteland of tumbleweed. A shred of excitement in an otherwise filled with tears landscape.

You must feel this too. Desperately hoping that the bull will come back. Desperately hanging onto all your assets for dear life. It's been no surprise to me that most of the project owners in hive engine have had to go back to full time jobs. Most of us thought that would have been us for good now. Not dependant on the system, breaking free from the chains of financial slavery, but it was not to be.

Next year though. This will be our year.

"Are we there yet?"

You get the picture haha.

But this isn't a depressive post, it's a post trying to get you to hang in there, to not give up all hope. There is so much happening beneath the surface and it all points to that the next two years are going to be the best that we've seen yet.

Blackrock will come into Bitcoin with their spot ETF. We'll see them passing on Bitcoin to mum and dad and nan and grandad like they were sweeties at the candy store, or worse, exotic drugs in the drug den..

"You have to try this, everyone's trying it and it's amazing.."

I think this will be the tipping point. I may have been too young to understand that tipping point of the internet but it happened around 2008 when Steve Jobs released the iPhone to the world. And the world got connected. No longer was I limited to talking to geeky Steve from London, but I could now talk with Chad Calvin the football star at his school -- the masses came in their droves. What was once a tool for the socially inept became a tool for everyone.

But in true hipster fashion it irked me that I was no longer a hipster; I was more so part of the crowd, one of the lads, doing what everyone else was doing. One thing that pains me is that I wasn't motivated enough back then to see the earning opportunities I had being one of the few on the internet before it became cool to be on it.

So this new Bitcoin spot etf will be like the Steve Jobs moment. When suddenly the masses get the green light to influx into crypto and they will be shipped into here like cattle. The trick for us will be to become herders over the next few years and filter them into hive and our projects.

Bitcoin will suddenly become safe to own and all of a sudden what was hipsterville will be more like valley girl.

So hold onto your hats folks shit is about to get real crazy. They'll also try and control us. Social media was amazing back in the free for all days. If you made sure you were careful then you generally were okay; if you didn't click on any spammy links life on the internet was relatively safe -- and the virality was out of this world. I remember when Google and Facebook used to share data and you could share a video from YouTube and watch it on Facebook. The virality factor there was amazing.

But then the boring brigade came in with their safety concerns, which was really a code word for control and began to control the flow of traffic to and fro social media.

Expect a mass craziness again. In crypto. On places like Hive. Where people discover us and prices start doing thousands for posts again. Expect the drama (boy do I miss the drama) that comes with it.

Next year and the following will be A LOT of fun.

It would be nice to think that you're right. Around here we have gone from the possibility of crypto being our future to it being like "part time work," to now not even being in the picture beyond in a "wait and see" context. Thankfully, I have LOTS of experience with things not turning out as hoped for!
