V4V.app Backend v2 Coming

I'm sorry I've been so quiet recently. The price action of Hive notwithstanding, I've been working non stop. My goal remains a much more solid back end that is almost zero touch for me to run and built in a way that other people can run a gateway.

I had a couple of bad days with the service deciding to be unreliable right when I spent two days away from home. One of the servers I used started running into problems (completely unconnected with my software) which I've now solved. This server will actually be decommissioned soon as it runs v1 of the backend.

Accounting

Behind the scenes with v1 I never had a particularly easy way to see what was going on. This time I'm in a completely different place. First working with mostly Grok and then all sorts of other AI tools, v2 has been designed from the ground up built around a double entry book keeping system. Double entry bookkeeping is the only way to do this kind of financial accounting.

I knew the basics of bookkeeping but only with the help of modern AI could I have dreamed of building my own system from scratch. I actually started off trying to use standard libraries but this just proved to be silly compared to building my own system from scratch.

User View

This means the view the user gets of their transactions will come straight from this back end accounting system. There is a single source of truth and everything is much simpler from my point of view.

Custom Json

Behind the scenes all transfer of Sats will be accompagnied by custom json's on Hive. This means it will be possible to transaction into @magi.network being the way to store Sats (instead of within my system) as soon as the smart contracts are possible. Then I will only see sats when they transit through @v4vapp into or out of the Lightning network.

VSC/Magi

The goal is still to use @magi.network (@vsc.network) as my backend for Hive/HBD to BTC swaps but in advance of that I've now got my v2 system set up to use Binance.

Timetable

Within the next two weeks, exact dates to be announced, I will be freezing the old system and taking it down.

All balances will transfer from the old system to the new system and I'll get the new system up and running in production. I really hope I will be able to have this done in a few hours and keep downtime to an absolute minimum.

Everything is becoming properly documented. Running this system won't be trivial but it won't be impossible.

Lightning continues a steady adoption and I'm still commited to being the bridge between Hive and the wider world.
