I wonder, if its true, why should left be a ideology for smarter people? I always thought it had to do with values and upbringing

Dunno, I guess it just correlates. However, I've also read that psychopaths are drawn more right-wing jobs and sometimes considered very intelligent.

Grok seems to agree somewhat with you.

The term "right-wing jobs" isn't a standard category, but it could refer to occupations or industries that align with values or interests often associated with right-wing political ideologies, such as individualism, free markets, tradition, or limited government. These might include:
Entrepreneurship/Small Business Ownership: Emphasizing self-reliance and market-driven success.
Finance and Investment: Roles in banking, stock trading, or venture capital, tied to capitalist principles.
Law Enforcement/Military: Jobs like police officers, soldiers, or private security, often linked to law-and-order values.

Yeah, it had a lot more examples to offer than I did though 😅

Energy Sector: Particularly oil, gas, or coal industries, which may align with skepticism of rapid environmental regulation.
Agriculture/Ranching: Tied to rural, traditional lifestyles and land ownership.
Construction/Trades: Skilled trades like carpentry or plumbing, often independent or small-business-based.
Religious or Nonprofit Work: Roles in churches or conservative advocacy groups promoting traditional values.
Media/Commentary: Pundits, bloggers, or influencers creating content for conservative audiences.
No job is inherently "right-wing," but certain fields attract people with conservative leanings due to cultural or economic priorities. Conversely, "left-wing jobs" might be associated with academia, social work, or renewable energy, though this is equally fluid. People of all political stripes work in every industry—context matters.

I'd say jobs in media sector tend to lean more toward left, at least here in Europe

DISCLAIMER: Correlation is not causation.

If higher intelligence is correlated with left-wing beliefs, does that imply that common sense is correlated with right-wing beliefs?

I'm not saying it is or isn't; I'm just asking the "?"

Maybe it is. I know a couple of those and they are pretty practical at least. And talking about normal right-wingers, not any MAGA people or anything like that.

Surely, intelligence nor common sense apply that group.

Many in that group support cryptocurrency, so they have some intelligence.

Yeah, I guess so. Or, could it be that with their paranoia, they got 1 out of 100 right? 🙂
