I put my treadmill at an incline of 1 whenever I use it. I was talking to a trainer and they said if you just keep it at zero the belt is basically doing most of the work for you. I don't know how accurate that is, but it doesn't kill me to run it at 1.

This climb is about 6m over a 300m stretch. It does not sound much, but you feel it. Running is not like cycling as you have to work on the flat and even downhill. I could carry on up the hill, but I would not be able to sustain the same pace all the way.
