That's a big part of the reason I quit my bank and moved all my money to a credit union. It just felt like the smarter play for me given how horrible banks are run these days and how quickly they get gobbled up by bigger entities.

Makes logical sense. I had two previous occasions where my bank got taken over and made some decent money with a pay out, but generally any take over is not good news long term.
