Ruling the Pool
As I indicated in my post yesterday, bracket play on Sunday wasn't that kind to the Ohio Lasers Scarlet team as seems to be the case. However, pool play on Friday and Saturday actually went quite well for the young ladies.
Before I get to that, I wanted to point out that today is the first of July. That means it is #HPUD day. I made it a point of powering up some liquid HIVE I had on this account today.
Unfortunately, that is the end of my SPORTS tokens that I sold off, so I don't know if I will be able to make quite so big power ups on this account in the future. I'd love to start earning a bit more here, but engagement with my sports posts seems a little lax and I know a lot of that is my fault. I have a feeling if I commented on posts from this account like I do from my main account, I would likely be doing a lot better.
Maybe one day...
As I was saying before, it was a good couple of days for my nieces team. They won their first game on Friday morning 10 to 2, and then went on to win their second game 7 to 1. Things got off to a good start on Saturday as well with a 14 to 7 win which was actually a lot closer game than it sounds. It wasn't until later in the game that they really started to show up on offense.
The same was true for the second game on Saturday where they were tied at 1 to 1 for a while before there was a slight rain delay. After the rain delay they came back swinging and won that second game 9 to 1.
This tournament was unique in the fact that the 18U pool was small. That meant you only had to win two games on Sunday to win the championship, but it also meant that you had to basically play the same teams over and over again. The law of averages wasn't in their favor and that team they beat 9 to 1 on Saturday took the Lasers Scarlet team down 13 to 6 on Sunday.
That put my nieces team out of the tournament and somewhere around a third place finish out of five teams. It's not really what they were hoping for, but I think they had a good time playing.
Especially given the massive heatwave we have been experiencing.
They are back in action tomorrow, but I will talk more about that when the time comes.
