Practice Makes Perfect?

Yes, that's me in a bucket hat practicing my disc golf drive in flip flops. No, this post isn't actually about disc golf. After close to 25 years of playing the sport and countless rounds under my belt, it still seems that I struggle to master this game that I love so much.

Does that sound familiar to you? It probably does to the Detroit Lions.

It's been a rough preseason for them. Yes, they are hardly playing any of their top players, but if you are keeping track, they are 1 and 4 in the preseason. Yeah, you read that right, the NFL team that was the best in the league pretty much all season and the favorite to win the Superbowl last year has only won one of five games in the early play this year.

I've gotten to the point where I didn't even bother watching the last couple of games because I had a feeling it was just going to be a huge disappointment.

I only hope that the starters are ready to go because they have a big game in just a couple of weeks to start the season against Green Bay. Although the season has expanded by a few games, it's still a pretty short season compared to a lot of other sports, so there isn't a lot of wiggle room for the team to have an off day.

There is still a lot of hype behind the Lions. So I hope they can show up for a state of fans who have been waiting a long time for this. At this point, I think even an appearance in the Superbowl would be enough for a lot of people. Of course that doesn't mean we don't want to win it all, but even one foot in the door would buck years of tradition and underhanded dealings by the officials to keep us out.

As we get closer to the start of the regular season, I'm starting to feel a bit of sadness at the demise of my fantasy career. I hope one day I can have some kind of resurrection and play again. At the very least, this season should be a lot less stressful for me and that is never a bad thing.

Sorry, back to the Lions. I think the only thing that could be worse for the Lions is if one of those losses they suffered this preseason was against the Panthers. It's bad enough they lost by quite a margin to the Texans.

It's going to be an interesting season for sure. It's a new team with quite a few coaches, I just hope Goff doesn't totally suck this year.
