Poor Form

If the Will Smith wasn't bad enough, now we have another one to deal with. It came at the end of the Lions/Chiefs came and while some are erroneously calling it a "punch", I think we all know a good pimp slap when we see one.

I actually didn't watch the game. I was snug in my bed recovering from a weekend of camping, but I can't say I am too surprised at how things went down. In fact, I'm shocked it doesn't happen more often. Of course I don't condone it, but I absolutely understand. Let's clear up some other stuff first though.

In a shocker for me, the one win New York Giants handed it to Philadelphia on Thursday night 34 to 17. I am going to guess whoever took the Giants on that game earned a fair amount of money on their bet. Congrats to them.

In the London game... I'm still waiting to hear if folks in the UK really care about American Football, The New York Jets did a very New York Jets thing going for it on 4th down to basically lose the game for them and continue to be the only team in the NFL without a single win yet.

To be fair, they were looking at a 60 some yard field goal to win the game, but based on the low score and the fact that both teams defense was either really good or their offense really sucked, the kick seemed like the safer bet to me.

The Rams beat the Ravens 17 to 3, Seattle beat Jacksonville 20 to 12, and sweet Carolina handed the Cowboys another loss 30 to 27 in a game that looked like it was going Dallas's way early on.

Pittsburgh took down Cleveland 23 to 9, New England beat New Orleans 25 to 19, and The Chargers beat the Dolphins 29 to 27. The Saints continue to be the only team in the NFC win one win. That's pretty sad. They shouldn't feel too bad though, over in the AFC there are three or four teams with only one win on the season.

Indy beat Arizona 31 to 27, Vegas gained their second win of the season with a 20 to 10 win over Tennessee, and Tampa Bay beat San Francisco 30 to 19. Believe it or not, Tampa Bay is tied with Indy for the best record in the NFL right now at 5 and 1. Impressive.

Green Bay beat Cincinnati 27 to 18, Atlanta beat Buffalo 24 to 14 in what I would consider a shocker, and Chicago squeaked out a win against Washington last night 25 to 24. I expect @hanshotfirst will have something to say about that!

Finally, we have the Lions, falling 30 to 17 against the Kansas City Chiefs. Let's break this down, The Chiefs had something like zero penalties called against them the whole game. The Lions had four or five that cost them some yards. The KC players were talking trash, Branch got sick of it, and at the end of the game slapped Schuster. Probably not his best moment.

Again, I don't condone it. If you lost by a couple points, I might understand it a little more, but when you get beat by 13 points, you only have yourself to blame.

To be fair, I think we all know the NFL refs coddle the Chiefs. The problem is, other teams have found a way to win despite that. I blame the Lions for not being able to do the same. Sure, they are a more physical team, so they are probably going to draw more calls, but everyone knows that going in, they should too.

I'm not worried about the Lions moving forward. This is just a bump in the road. Yes, they have a better record than Green Bay, but they still sit below the Packers in the rankings thanks to that opening day loss. We still have a lot of season to go, and hopefully this will be a learning experience for them.

As for the NFL, pull your wee wee out of Mahomes mouth and do better.
