In a bit of a pickle...

As you may or may not know, for the past decade or so I have been taking part in a fantasy football league with my wife and some of the members of her side of the family. It's been a lesson in futility for me as pretty much every single season I find a way to absolutely suck. As I have said before, it's not like I don't know what I am doing, or I don't know anything about (American) football, it's just bad luck and who knows what else that has plagued me with a losing record.
I can't tell you the number of times I have considered quitting or not renewing the league. Every year I think this is going to be the year that we finally shutter the thing and then everyone in the family is all excited for the season to start, so I end up renewing.
This season however, seems to be a bit different. I sent a text message out to the group a while ago asking if everyone was interested in playing again. I was a bit shocked to find out that not everyone was on board. My sister-in-law replied immediately that she was up for it. My brother in law said he is out for sure this season. My other brother in law said if people aren't going to actually manage their teams, he is out as well.
The rest of the family, I didn't hear from. I think they are pretty indifferent. I thought I was going to be happy when this thing finally folded, but now here I am with that being a possibility and I am actually a little sad.

I think mostly I am sad that I might not be able to come on here and write about horrible my team did each week. It also gives myself and my wife a bit of an incentive to watch the games each week because we usually have players who are playing at some point.
I thought about trying to find a new league to join, but I don't like the idea of being paired up with a bunch of strangers, and I think that all of the leagues my friends and relatives are on have already filled up.
I'm probably going to send one more message out to everyone indicating that I am likely not going to do the league this year and if I get a ton of backlash, then I will move forward. There has been a lot of interest in doing a live draft this season, but I don't know how I can make that work with everyone's schedules. I see it as highly favoring the people who know what they are doing and being a detriment to the others who are just trying to have some fun.
At the very least if we do have a league, I plan on changing the positions a great deal. I am going to scale back how many players people can have on their teams to make more talent available to the other people in the league. It always sucks when you need a player and there is no one to pick from because everyone has three wide receiver slots on their team.
I'm still not sure how all of this is going to play out, but I will keep you updated as I figure out more!

Love pickles! I should make them at home but am too lazy. I did make Kimchi once, but it cost me more to make it than the price at the store!
I used to hit the farmers market in the summer and buy what I needed to make some garlic dills. That's what you see in the second photo. My aunts would hold onto the brine and just keep adding cucumbers to it after they finished the original batch.
If it isn't fun you shouldn't do it
It's not that it isn't fun, it's just frustrating. Kind of like my round of disc golf last night. It was still fun even though I had a quadruple bogey and I lost a disc in the pond...
Damn. That's a bad hole. I hate losing discs. Lucky for you though I am the MEME Master.. here with memes to make you laugh at a bad situation..
They were two separate holes. I had some really nice pars last night, but then a couple really crappy holes too. Finished +13 which isn't too bad for me given those errors. Trees kept jumping in the way! I saw that meme on one of the Disc Golf Facebook groups I am in. Funny stuff!
