Down To The Wire

I was sitting around a campfire myself on Friday night when the Detroit Tigers hopes at making it to another world series went up in flames. It was actually a pretty exciting game going into 15 innings and earning an on air F-Bomb from one of the beloved Tigers announcers when Seattle scored the winning run. It seems he forgot his mic was on, but after such a hard fought series and then game, it's no surprise he would slip. I think the general consensus is that he only said what we were collectively thinking.

Come Saturday, The Brewers turned the key on the Chicago Cubs season and sent them packing 3 to 1 to advance to the next round. With Toronto and LA waiting in the wings, the stage was set for the division championship games.

Those started up right away on Sunday with Seattle taking the first game against the Blue Jays 3 to 1 in Toronto. Then on Monday, Seattle hammered them again 10 to 3. Again, in Toronto. I wanted to be a Toronto fan now that the Tigers are out of it, but it's not looking too good. Seattle seems to be on a tear, I am just glad the Tigers game them such a fight. That makes me feel a little better about their success.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers also had a game on Monday against Milwaukee and they took the Brewers down at home 2 to 1.

Yesterday was game two between the Dodgers and the Brewers and LA also won that one 5 to 1. These are both best of five series, so there is still a lot of time for the other teams to make up the deficit. However, they are going to have to do so on the road as things now head back to LA and Seattle respectively.

I'm not really sure how I would feel about an LA/Seattle World Series. It would probably make for some pretty late games given both teams are in the Pacific Time Zone. I have a feeling I wouldn't be able to stay up late enough to watch any of them.

If it comes down to it though, I have to cheer for the Dodgers. They are the major league affiliate for the minor league team that is my hometown all the way here in Michigan, so we have a nice connection to them. It doesn't really matter to me that Vegas has had them pegged to win the World Series (again) since the beginning of the season.

Seattle and Toronto go at it again tonight, the rest is yet to be written.

I guess we will have to see what happens!
