A Double Header?

I'm kind of not glad I am super invested in the World Series this year. Sure, I like to know what is happening, and I will check the scores each morning to see what happened. I'm not one of those people who has to stay up and watch every game though.

Thank goodness!

It would have been a very late game for me last night. The Dodgers/Jay's game three went into an insane 18 innings last night before the Dodgers finally broke the stalemate and won 6 to 5. Can you believe that? 18 innings! That's basically two full games they played.

The total game time was 6 hours and 39 minutes. At least the spectators got their money's worth. The only thing I can think of though is the fact that beer sales usually end after the seventh inning, so that's a lot of time for the spectators to sober up!

I tried to find some info to see if they actually extended beer sales past the end of the 9th inning, but I couldn't find anything. That's a lot of missed money left on the table. The fact is though, the game could have ended at any moment, so they probably did the right thing.

That puts the Dodgers up two games to one in the World Series best of seven series.

Meanwhile, there were some NFL games this past weekend as well.

However, my beloved Lions were missing from the roster as they were on bye this weekend, so I honestly didn't pay too much attention to the games. The Chargers rebounded from their recent bad luck to beat the Vikings 37 to 10. Houston beat San Francisco 26 to 15, and Baltimore took down Chicago 30 to 16 in one of the only games I actually watched this weekend.

Buffalo rolled over Carolina like a lake effect snow storm off Lake Erie 40 to 9, Philly beat a sort of hot Giants team (minus their meltdown to Denver last week) 38 to 20, and New England beat Cleveland 32 to 13.

The Jets got their first win of the season and honestly it's only fitting that they got it at the hands of Cincinnati 39 to 38. Miami hammered the Falcons 34 to 10, and Tampa Bay continued their strong season beating New Orleans 23 to 3.

Indy took down Tennessee 38 to 14 in what has been a pretty horrible year for the Titans, and Denver had an amazing follow up to their big game last weekend beating the Cowboys 44 to 24 in another embarrassment for Jerry Jones.

Much to my chagrin, Green Bay beat Pittsburgh 35 to 25 to stay just above the Lions in the NFC North.

Finally, in Monday night football it doesn't appear the Chiefs needed much help from the officials this time to beat Washington 28 to 7.

That puts Tampa Bay and Philadelphia at the top of the NFC with six wins and two losses for both of them. Meanwhile, New Orleans is at the bottom of the NFC with a record of 1 and 7.

Over in the AFC, Indianapolis is the top dog with a record of 7 and 1. Tennessee and The Jets sit tied at the bottom with a 1 and 7 record as well.

We are halfway through the season now, and there is still a lot of football to be played. I just hope the Lions can finish strong in this home stretch!
